okay here's the story. Got 19 purple gem seeds from when the e shop first opened. I had them at a buddy's in hydro and in a period of 2 days we went from 16 healthy to 3 barely living. I later found out that this is because he wasn't pHing his seed feed (duh!) and the ph swung down to 4.2 for almost a whole day.

our cute little seedlings started growing cork screw stems and died off, all except 3. Now out of these 3, two are pure females, but one is hermaphrodite. I need some way to tell which type of hermaphrodite this is because i'm interested in using the pollen to make some feminized seeds.

basically, this little guy/girl was destined to be hermi with all the stress it went through in its early life. However, they received stress before they were sexed, and I believe this one sprouted male and female parts almost simultaneously. How can i tell if it is a female turned male, or vice versa? at the lower branches showing sex, it is female, but the tops of the buds are full blown male. Would pics help, or since it turned hermi right at the point it sexed will i be unable to tell?

i can use one of the two remaining females for reversal with colloidal silver, but since this one was already stressed to the point of hermaphroditism, i would like to use this plant if possible

Damn that sucks yea post pictures wiz is always looking for pictures to show others so they can learn too. It is my understanding, after some confusion, that if you use the pollen from that one jem and use it on your other two you will have fem seed. Also i think because outside factors influeneced the hermaphadite issue not because its was predetermined by the genes. Im pretty sure your good to go on that pollenation.

Yeah, but if it is a male turned female, i will still get male and female seeds. I'll get some pics up soon.

Also, one plus side of this is that there was a strong selection factor for plants resistant to pH swings. I may not get purples, or any other traits to select from but with their outdoor breeding history and this "selection" done by the pH swing, they'll be some hardy bastards.

i would just let it ride if actually is a hermi... you can always experiment with the mistaken seeds
