Hey all, I'm following the Veg Phase II levels here in the canna calculator. I'm halving everything because I've got Auto's growing.

Screen Shot 2021-11-08 at 4.17.17 pm.png

My tap water measures 254 us/cm and 127PPM so it looks like my tester is on Hanna scale.

I’m using a 6L container.

4ml of canna calmag take me to 500 us/cm

7ml of canna A and 7ml of canna B takes me to 1000 us/cm

4ml of rhizo and 5ml of cannazym doesn’t seem to move the dial much, now I’m at about 1050 us/cm.

A bit of ph down to get me from 6.4 to 6.0

The feed guide I’m using said to do all the above and aim for EC1.5.

Does that mean my end mix should be 1500 us/cm?

Should I add more calmag to get up to 1500, or because these are autos and I've added half of everything they said to add, does that mean I should aim for EC750 instead?

OR should I be adding half the EC+ which is 450us/cm onto my starting water which was 550us/cm (with calmag) which works out to be about 950us/cm which I'm not far off. I feel like a mad scientist here, any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Also, is this a good nutrient mix for 7 week autos in coco that are just starting to flower?

Also please be gentle with me this is my first post! Let me know if it's in the wrong sub or I'm missing any extra info etc. Thanks all.

Welcome to AFN :welcome:

Here's an EC to PPM chart if ya need one.

I am not familiar with the nutrients you are using, but a lot of folks start their nutrients around 50% of what is recommended and see how the plants respond. If they are a bit light green after a few days from feeding, up it a bit.. and if there is any burning on the tips, or if the leaves are too dark, drop it a bit. Thats what i go by anyway.

I don't know if that will be good through flower. Not a coco grower either, so not much help there.

Maybe someone else will stop in and have more for ya :smoking: Anyways, welcome again!

@Ausgeno:welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:. Where in the chart does it say to add cal-mag? IMPE autos do just fine at 1.0 - 1.2 EC So lets say you want to mix a batch of nutrients with 1.2 EC of nutrients. Start by dividing the target nutrient by EC 1.2/2 Parts = .6 EC Add .6 EC of part A to your water until it reads EC .254+.6 = .85 EC. Now add Part B until the EC total is 1.454 EC.

Does this make sense?

Thanks @Kyote that chart is very helpful mate and thanks for the welcome!

And thank you for the welcome too, very friendly bunch here!

Also good point, great question, I read here: https://www.canna.com.au/calmag that because my water EC is below 0.4 the plants won't take all the nutrients. I don't know much more than that, I'm just going off their marketing material tbh but I do see a lot of other people saying coco coir needs calmag added. So my water is about 0.2, I though I was supposed to bring it up to 0.4 with the calmag and then start from there.

That does make sense - I haven't done this much math in decades! But I understand what you're saying. Looking back at my numbers I'd probably be sitting on about 1.4EC if I hadn't added the calmag so it sounds like I'm on the right track.

They seem to be chugging along okay. A fair bit smaller than other peoples autos I see at 7 weeks but I think that's down to me not feeding them enough early on. Gold Leaf on the left is pretty bushy, I wish it would branch out a bit more so I can could do better LST but the Blueberry on the right is starting to take the right shape. I just hope I end up with something to smoke for Xmas! Cheers for the advice guys!

Size can be really deceiving in photographs! Plus, a lot of the plants size has to do with genetics. If you want to encourage the bushier plant to stretch a bit you could try lifting your light just a smidgen. Has the one on the left been topped? It can help push growth to the lower branches, but some strains just have tight internodal spacing and a more bushy structure. Sometimes those are a bit harder to train. Have you noticed any condensation between leaves? If so, you may want to think about taking some of the internal fan leaves where they are overlapping to increase airflow.

Has the left shown sex yet? They both look super healthy which is good!

I haven't topped, too nervous to try anything like that with my first grow lol, and I haven't noticed any condensation but I wasn't really paying attention to that so I'll keep an eye out fo it.

Great suggestion to lift the light btw, I spent so much time focusing on preventing leggy plants that I didn't consider the benefits of letting them get a bit leggy!

Yep! I just noticed the first few white hairs today which was a relief.

Well, in my experience the ones that start short can surprise you when they go into stretch. I would go ahead and lift the light a little bit, and let them grow into it.

Phwoar that's a serious growth spurt! How did you get the stem and branches so thick on a plant that looks so young??
