Hello AFN!!

I'd like some help building a 4x8 led tent, mainly with the extraction and intake fans.

equipment:
gorilla 4x8 tent
2x 600w+ led lights

I used a phresh filter cfm calculator and it says that it would be around 400cfm. but everywhere else I have looked says that i should use a 8inch fan.

I want to buy a silenced one btw!

my build will be from hydroexperts.com.au so if you could have a look at that site and get back to me with stuff i should buy that would be great, thanks afn!

An 8" inline fan would be better because it will allow for some wiggle room. I'd rather be over powered instead of under powered. Make sure that the carbon filter cfm is larger than the inline fans cfm. You can buy a baffle style piece for the inline fan to help with noise. My fan/filter has been outside my tent for several years. I sat the fan on a sheet of Sorbothane vibration isolator. It helps with vibration.

the one i was looking at has an adjustable speed setting. its an 8inch with 710cfm and the carbon filter is a phat phresh filter, 750cfm. is that ideal for a 4x8 area?

That fan/filter setup should work quite nicely. Who makes the adjustable fan? Or is it the 3 speed adjust?

is it too much? what speed should it be running on when full flower? i dont really want to have an intake fan. how would i go about passive intaking with this thing?

For passive you can open one of the lower ducting openings or one of the tents lower windows. Open one of the top cable openings. That isn't going to do anything for the heated air though. With no fan/filter, you have no way to suck in fresh air or expel the warm air. The linked fan/filter should be fine for the 4x8 tent. You will adjust fan according to temps in the room and the tent and odor level. I happen to use a Variac controller for my fans.
