one of them has the rots, browned out cotyledons....other looks damaged too,... bottom most seedling is fine,... what are you growing in, that medium looks kinda strange,... peat based?
Damping off is caused by several possible pathogens, usually a moisture/over watering and/or overly high RH% issue,...get me info on that please, and T's....

Well spotted, I just saw the healthy one assumed, incorrectly they were all like that.

@seedstodreams hey right this very minute I am putting together a tutorial on a super simple yet small and completely foolproof alternative to DWC. I'll tag you when it's ready.

Tip for photographing seedlings, phone will always focus on the surface so lock the focus by pressing and holding the screen, then move away a couple of inches.

Everything is looking good, and the one with the bad cotyledons is fine, but as Waira said your soil does look a bit odd. Keep a close eye on everything and don't over water. I think they'll all be fine.

The more you know.. lol. Waiting on a nice USB microscope camera from Amazon so I don't have to deal with the phone pics

Thanks for all the info! Trying to keep a watchful eye without being too intrusive lmao

I'm using 3 gal fabric pots with Kind Soil (water only hot soil) on the bottom and Roots Organic original on top. (2.5lbs KS, some KS with RO mixed about an inch or so in middle, rest RO on top)

73-82F with RH between 45% - 60%

Edit: I had issues with the shells being stuck on the Strawberry Nuggets and Sour Crack for 2 days above soil. Also had issues germinating in toilet paper/DVD case and didn't plant deep enough. I had to gently remove the shells with tooth picks and remove the membrane from the Sour Crack. Pretty sure they would have died if I didn't intervene. Rough start but it looks like progress

The first Walter White died lol, this one was planted directly and the difference shows

Yes, I've gone through all this and analysed it the past 8 months, I went from rockwool to plugs to opening the plugs with paper towels and all that. Finally I have found the most foolproof method possible, virtually 100% guaranteed every time unless the seed is dodgy. It's a combination of paper towel and soil, using neither and it's better than both...

It just worked well on a bad seed that I thought would not even germinate. 1. Use an eazy plug, you can find them easily. 2 Let plug soak up some water, mash the hole around with a pin so pop the seed a few millimetres down and cover with a bit of the mashed up easy plug. From the seeds POV this is exactly as if it was in a paper towel, because the eazy plug stays properly wet, not like rockwool, but it also is full of air pockets, so if it will germ in a paper towel it will germ in this, this will allow the very finest fuzz on the taproot to get a footing. This is perfect for soil or hydro. I recently killed two perfect glueberry germed seeds due to root disturbance which is why I've now come to this.

The usb microscopes are good for the trichomes but if you want to examine the plant I found the best simple device was one of these...

The 60 x is not very useful as the coverage is too small, but the 30 x is brilliant, you can examine leaf tips for early burn and trichomes on the plant. It's got a little light in it too.

That's actually the first one I looked into, seen it on a YouTube video lol

I found the one that's on the way while browsing Reddit, and the guy had some crazy pictures. The trichome pictures are what sold me, but he was able to get nice shots of the buds and plants with it too. Anything is better than this phone lol

10x to 300x I guess? Detaches from stand and can plug into phone or PC

:smoking: mate.... We know KS, all too well,..AFN tested his stuff out a few years ago,...started out OK, but dubious quality control started showing in performance, especially in bloom when the P sourcing died out! Most testers did not use it again,...So, be forewarned, have bloom nutes to supplement on hand, and "water only" or not, even the best makers of such soil still recommend inoculants/teas, Si, humic-fulvic, kelp, and I'd add a micronutrient supplement as well.... And I still have little confidence nowadays either in this soil,... but we shall see! SoHum and KIS are better from what I've heard....
As for your seedlings, look into some biological agents to help with pathogens.. Actinovate and Armory are bacterial fungal fighters you can spray and inoculate with to help combat such attacks,... T and RH% are OK, some gentle air movement helps as well,.. I dislike the placing of cups/bags over the seedlings for this reason because it creates stagnant overly humid air, which promotes fungal activity,....
