Hello AFN! Greetings from Massachusetts! We have been officially legal for just over an hour!
I have "grown" photoperiod plants outdoors for years. And by "grown" I mean plant a bunch of bag seed in a secluded spot in my yard in early May, cull the males when they showed sex and then harvested the females on first frost. No nutes and hose watered only when it hadn't rained in a week. Hell, I only started paying attention to the trichs a couple of years ago. The whole process was basically fire and forget. But I got some monster plants!
A little over a year ago I began to learn to grow autoflowering cannabis indoors. Originally this journey stated as a "we". My father, a lifelong stoner, had been recently prescribed medical marijuana (CannaMed, lol) for a few different medical conditions and was sick of paying top dollar for his buds. We decided to learn how to grow our own year round. I sought out and was awarded "caregiver" status in the eyes of the state. We were 100% legally growing under medical marijuana guidelines. After purchasing our tent, lights, ventilation and researching our strains we decided to start with autoflowers so we could get faster results while learning the ropes. In early September of last year our first seeds went into the soil and the adventure began. Two plants at first and then about 30 days later in early October two more. Our plan was to have two plants harvested and two new seeds planted roughly every 30 days. My father was more excited about this project than I had seen him in a decade. My old man loved his weed and I am a chip off the block! Unfortunately so few things in life go as we plan. In late October my father suddenly passed away. Devastated and lost, those first four plants were no longer any priority to me. I don't know the final yields but it was unimpressive. Months later in early 2016 I put the tent back together and started again.
Highs and lows.
I have had multiple successful harvests to date and am now a point were I am happy in the knowledge that I can turn a seed into weed. It is not about how to do it but how to do a little better each time. I am still a beginner and I am still learning.
I was ultimately inspired to come out of lurking and post here by a mutated seedling whose growth I have been documenting every other day for the last two weeks. Over the next hour or so I will be beginning a grow journal for her over on the Mephisto Genetics subforum. I will edit a link into here when it is up. Look for "Weird N Bubbly" over there if I don't get back here to edit.
Enjoy some pictures!
Under-watered and crispy, nute locked/burned and spotty, one bleached tip and some trichs! Messy tent! Here are a few shots from my previous "successful" grows this past summer:
