I've been posting here for a month or so - and am documenting a couple of ladies I'm growing (a Berry Ryder and a Hobbit), but thought I'd make a (not very!) formal introduction.

I've enjoyed our favored flower for nearly 30 years (and by that admission, acknowledge I'm no longer a spring chicken - ha ha!) - but haven't, until recently, tried my hand at growing my own.

Last year I acquired a few photo beans from a friend - and put a small guerrilla grow (hence the user name) out in the woods. Unfortunately, my lack of knowledge in what makes a cannabis plant happy - combined with a very wet stretch of weather as the flowers neared their finish, resulted in a very limited yield.

However - my curiosity and interest was piqued in a big way.

Subsequent reading on the subject introduced me to the auto flowering varieties - and finally to this fine site.

I have a number of hobbies and interests (working a 50% camp schedule leaves me with a good deal of free time in a calendar year!) - and am a member of quite a number of forums on quite a number of topics.

Very, very few of them are as well moderated - or populated by so very many helpful, friendly and polite members - as this one is. I'd like to take this opportunity to tip my hat to all the members and moderators that make this forum such an informative and enjoyable place to spend some time.

Kudos to all of you - and especially to those members that have so pleasantly helped me in my first bumbling attempts at this fascinating pursuit (a420er and Swampman, in particular).

Anyway - I'm certainly enjoying my journey (even if the learning curve is a steep one for me - ha ha!) - and I look forward to documenting my future efforts (and reading of yours!).

Next spring I'll be returning to my guerrilla garden with a few auto beans and a little more experience garnered from a couple of indoor winter grows - and a tub full of knowledge garnered from this forum - to see if I can't do a better job out there.

Well, glad to see you finally made by the intros section. Better late than never! I won't welcome you as I already have but I will say thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to us to hear from new people that we are helping.

That being said, the learning curve may be steep but once you get over the hill you can kick up your feet and enjoy the ride. The only problem then is finding places to store more mason jars! It has been said many times but is always good to repeat, focus on the journey not the destination.

:stir:I bet you brought your teacher a apple everyday.

Hey man welcome..I think I posted on your stuff before or liked it ..but yea autos are a fickle mistress lol maybe the chase/hunt for the perfect one is what makes them so special..Its like a New plant to play with and love lol Why dont you get 1 bulb and grow inside 1 shorty or 2 small ones for a seeds run for the next season ..Good to have ya here and:styles rasta: to the AFNlogo Army!

An apple a day keeps the student in A's! Some learn from examples, some learn from experiences and some......never learn.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Honestly - I looked around a number of other topic forums - and saw quite a bit of calling out, brow and chest beating, derision and outright belittlement.

If it happens here - it doesn't happen often - and thats refreshing. Good vibes are the order of the day - and I appreciate that.

Thats a solid plan, Doobie. I actually planted my last two beans given to me by my friend in my guerrilla garden, this spring. They were a variety she had crossed to herself - Trail Blazer she called it - specialized for outdoors at our latitude. Two years ago, her patch was burnt off in a mid summer forest fire - and she lost her breeding stock. As luck would have it - one of the beans I planted turned out to be male - one female - so, unless there is a late season disaster in my woodland garden - the strain won't be lost.

All the auto seeds I have at the moment are feminized - but perhaps I'll order up some regular dragons, and see about some seeds for next season. My first order of business, though - will be to continue to bumble through the two plants I have at the moment, with the hopeful belief that I'll have a few enjoyable buds at the end of 'em - ha ha!

I bet you brought your teacher a apple everyday.

Ha ha - and in my teens, I laughed at the teacher's pets.
However - in hindsight - those that sat at the front of the class ended up with better marks, got into a better university, got head-hunted - and now drive Porsches.
Damn the clarity of hindsight - ha ha!

I concur completely. Often times the journey turns out to be the best part of the experience - sometimes the destination, somewhat anti-climactic.
I'm thinking not in this case, though - and I'm looking forward to the problem of running out of room for mason jars - ha ha!

Thanks again, gentlemen - I'm looking forward to the ride.

:styles rasta: Always good to have people appreciate the vibe! Its a good site this one!:peace:
