I'm currently growing zkittle autoflower in three gallon containers of fox farm ocean soil. My previous experience with ocean soil fox farm is that after my previous autogrow failed because while the ocean soil provided enough nutrients for the veg stage for the first 4 weeks after sprout, the soil ran out of nutrients on the 5th week onward and the plant started to show multiple nutrient deficiencies.

What I plan on doing 3 weeks after my autoflower sprouts from the fox farm ocean soil is apply dr earth all purpose 444 and dr earth flower girl bloom 394 by top dressing and mixing it into the surface of the soil so it will have nutrients in its flowering stage.

Has anyone here ever used this method with success?

Yes! I would definately begin topdress at 3 weeks. The slow release dry is safe. This is the Mr. Canucks grow. Difference is he is in coco. He is very successful doing exactly that. He goes 70/30 444 284 (via green is 284) for planting and the 1st top dress. Then 50/50 then 70/30...
Nothing wrong with KIS methods.
I have come to believe this is not enough K for flower. IMO. If nothing else I would look into foliar feedings/teas as supplements.
Personally I use a crapton of different inputs and make it more difficult than it needs to be. I like to play with the inputs so it works for me.
Personally I feel the only way to go with Autos is a hydro system. Coco allows me to water often. With the short lifecycles of autos I believe we need to get as much growth as possible. with soil the process of waiting for the soil to dry enough may be a limiting factor. Just thoughts.
Good luck.

Gia Green not Via Green

Top dressing is a common practice. Its pretty much the only way organic growers feed their soil, which in turn, feeds the plant.

Follow the directions

han
How many tablespoons or teaspoons in a 3 gallon container do I top dress?
just sprinkle a handful all over n scratch it in to the surface.. will take a couple weeks, so plan ahead.. i used to mix it into the soil as well, im lazy tho.
build a soil "craft blend" is better.. free shipping..

I incorporate the dry organic into my soil mix, then water only until well into flower, when
I use Medina HastaGro for plants at half strength every other watering. Haven't had the need
to top dress my autos.
