Is it bad to harvest a sample?

I hear to harvest the top nugs first because they finish sooner but wouldn't this shock the plant. I know that my plant isn't done yet but I just want to take a nug or two off the top to sample next week. Would anyone recomend against this. Will this affect my overall yeild? Or just the few nugs that I took off too early. How many times can this be done without seriously stunting the flowering stage? Thanks in advance. I will be cutting tonight if nobody recomends against.

IMO....drink no wine until it's time...!! LOL...No idea about affecting yeild but if ya know it isn't "done", then your sample will be a disappointing one....I believe patience would be your best friend right now....Good karma or some xanax sent for anxiousness...

Its been flowering for 6 weeks today. I think they are supposed to flower for eight if I'm not mistaken. So bad idea.

I routinely pinch a small sample, especially if it's a strain I've never grown before. I usually just pick a small bud near the bottom of the plant, rather than from the top. I just hate messing up a nice looking cola. I've never noticed where it had any effect on the plant or on the final yield.

I too pinch a sample, gotta have a taste...its like tasting soup to see if its missing anything...hahaha

thanks alot guys. im switching my gameplan from picking from the top to swiping the bottom. killing two birds with one stone. without the long side branches i can push the plants closer together. thus moving the lights closer so more light for the plants. im so excited. let ya know how it turns out. i was not prepared for the smell. as soon as i chopped them my whole house started wrieking. :smokeit:

I'm not a fan of sampling before harvest, but I will admit I do it every once in a while on new strains....seems to be a common theme; at least in this thread. I always grab a popcorn bud from the bottom. The reason I feel the way I do is that tasting early is a false representation of the end cured product. Now I will fire up some "just cut" fresh bud and sample that when I harvest...like a right of passage, but picking early rarely gives the same taste or high that the end product gives.

But, in all fairness, autos sometimes don't amber up, so tasting as you go helps determine when its done. Err, at least thats what I tell my self when I do it. Also - I pretty much do the same as TBM's technique. Just let it sit out overnight - grind and vape. I see so many people asking for ways to quick dry - just let it sit out overnight. If your jones'n that much, use the flame of your lighter to dry it out!. Pretty damn simple.

Well its been drying a day. I pulled off a bowl to taste. Still a little wet but I can taste the white widow. Just delicous. Straight head rush. No body high but a happy laughing high. Can't wait for it to finish. I can't get that taste out of my mind. This is going to be a long 2-3 weeks.

I ALWAYS sample. when I think thier about ready I'll pinch a small nug. A small one that looks as ripe as most. Ill dry it in the drying closet for about 3 days, then put it in a mason jar for about 4 days. If I like the effects of this sample I'll harvest the rest. If not, I'll sample once a week untill I do.

I have taken the forbidden sample off of a photo that was outdoors but i brought it in because of the weather. I couldnt resist as Im fresh out anyone have a good fast drying technique i cant really control my microwave temps or oven they are super old and I dont have a vape just a bowl. Hers the pic Cant believe how frosty she is the "forbidden fruit" is so alluring. DSC00579.jpgDSC00580.jpg
