Hi all,

I'm in australia and I'm finding it hard to find any of the soils mentioned throughout these forums. Are then any other fellow growers from down under ?

I want to follow tangs schedule and he recommends plagron light mix, what is my best substitute for this from bunnings or masters stores?
Most cheap soils or potting mixes I have got from there are crap, and have a heap of bark and sticks and rocks in them... I've watched my seedlings slowly die :(

If I were to buy a top quality premium seedling mix, and mix some perlite, could I use this throughout the plants hole life ? Following tangs easy schedule ?

Thanks all,

If you can get worm castings (look on Gumtree) you can make your own mix with castings, coco and perlite, roughly 1/3 of each. This is what I used last year with some added Neutrog Rocket Fuel, dolomite and kelp. I then fertilized with fish hydrolysate and some molasses during flowering.

Another simple mix is to replace the castings with Searles 5 in 1 from Masters.

Thanks for the info man, ^^
I just ended up getting some DEBCO premium veggie tomato mix for like $11, some perlite and some DEBCO premium seed raising mix.

I saw that searles 5 in 1 but was worried it may be to HOT for seedlings ect, as I want to germ in paper towl then sow seed straight into the pot I'm going to finish with (5 litre DIY airpot)

Hope it's an improvement.... Has anyone heard of or used DEBCO ? The soil definitely feels nicer quality

Really any quality mix should be fine, if you like the feel of the Debco go for it.

I filled my pots with my mix and then made a fist size hole to fill with seed raising mix. Cracked seeds in distilled water for 24 hours then straight in the pots, no paper towels. Covered with cut off plastic bottle until sprouted. 100% success.

Thanks dude, like the idea of filling an area with seed raising mix, do you know if the DEBCO veggies and herbs mix would be very hot ? it says it has some slow release nutes but doesn't state levels ect,
Would I still be right with liquid nutes in the DEBCO veggie mix?
I just want to be able to follow tangs easy auto schedule as close as possible. :)

Thanks again ! :D

Had a look at the Debco website, they have a little video on that mix, looks a lot nicer than all those bark filled mixes you normally get. I think it won't be too hot as it has slow release fertiliser rather than heaps of compost.

I know you are trying to follow a proven routine, but it really isn't rocket science, with a quality mix you really only need to feed when your plant shows a deficiency.

What are you planning to grow?

You rock dude, appreciate the time your giving me, it's been hard to get replies to some of my post, probably cos there's 1000's people asking the same sorta questions haha, but cheers man!

I'm awaiting 1 x Blackberry from Fast Buds and 1x FREE Pakistan Ryder,
It's my first time ordering so just seeing how it goes with postage ect,
Planning on getting some beans from mephisto genetics next, what have you had experience with ?
Any recommendations :)

I have only tried Sweet Seeds so far, but Mephisto is definitely on my next wanted list.

sorry for the bump, but canna terra pro should be a similar mix to plagron light i think. It's available in some hydro stores.
