Thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else is interested. I start my seeds in 4.25" square by 5" deep pots. These are just barely big enough to get them to sex. I've been looking for something a little bigger and have tried several other types, such as Tree Pots, which were close but a little too deep and don't stand up well. But most I've seen are all either too small, or too big. I like mine, just wish they were a little deeper.
My usual drink of choice is either frozen concentrate lime or lemonade. I felt like something different so picked up a half gallon of some Cherry Limeade. I had just finished it and was about to throw the carton away when I remembered growing plants in milk containers when I was a kid. I grabbed the container out of the trash and measured it. 3.75" square and 8" on the straight side. I compared it to one of my pots and sure enough, with the straight sides the volume is about the same at a 5" height.
I've got some 16 day old seedlings going now so won't be starting my next batch for about another month. By then I should have 6 or 8 of these containers saved. I'm going to cut them at about 6.5 or 7" high. With their flat bottoms drainage holes in the bottom won't work well. So I'll poke a couple holes in each side near the bottom instead. I might even be able to use them for a couple grows, since they will only be used for about 3-4 weeks till I transplant. I may have finally found what I've been looking for and will be recycling these containers in the process.
