[h=1]GN REBEL LED MODULE V2[/h]
The LED module uses the latest ultra-bright Philip Rebels LED’s. We use an array of 37 LED’s; 20 Philips Rebel Colour deep-red LEDs, 16 Rebel ES white/blue LEDs and the powerful new infra-red LZ1 from LED Engin. The Rebel LED technology is amongst the very best LED available at the moment.
They benefit from unbeatable build quality and produce intense light. They are also more efficient than previous LED technologies, converting between 43% and 53% of electricity directly into narrow band light. These LEDs are a significant improvement on the Chinese and Taiwan LED grow light technologies which have been used in previous years. The light is made from a proven and highly effective combination of deep red, infra-red, blue, warm white and cool white LED’s. Perfect for the growth and flowering phase of your plants.
The LEDs are mounted on the MCPCB (metal core printed circuit board) with a 2mm pure copper core, solder mask and moisture protection coating. This ensures even heat spreading and more importantly a very low thermal resistance at the LED junction point. The circuit board is assembled in a specialist European factory. Our LED module was designed and built with quality and performance as the main priorities.
The LED module is the heart of the Holographic LED grow light and it is built using the best LED technology. The LED’s are the proven high intensity Luxeon Rebel LED’s built by Philips who are a world leader in LED technology with a reputation for durable quality. LED technology has advanced dramatically in recent years and the improvements in light intensity means LED technology is now being used routinely in all types of industrial and domestic applications. The LED’s used in our grow-lights should have an expected life time of 50,000+ hours. Even after 50,000+ hours the LED’s should still be able to deliver 80%+ of their original light intensity. For most customers the Holographic LED grow light will pay for itself in electricity savings after the first few grows compared to HPS.
When electricity flows through the LED they emit light at a specific wavelength. They are covered in a spherical silicone lens which extracts the light into a 120 degree primary beam. Then we have a secondary collimating optical system before the advanced Holographic optics.
Our LED grow light uses a dominant deep red spectrum. This is the most readily absorbed light and is where the plant gets most of its energy for growth. However deep red is often a surface level light and not good at penetrating to lower canopy levels. Therefore the use of cool white LED at 5650K and warm white at 2700K is highly penetrating and reaches lower canopy levels keeping the whole plant supplied with light for growth. We use blue LED light at 440-445nm, this is essential to optimise healthy plant development and photosynthesis.
The IR light provided by the LZ1 is only partially visible to the human eye and provides the plants with infra red. The IR stimulates plant hormones which in vegetive growth allows for increased nodal spacing, this means more plant surface area and faster growth. During bloom IR light increases the number of flowering sites. IR light is also essential for respiratory function and protein breakdown.
By completely colour mixing the red, white and blue with the Holographic Diffuser we get an intense pink red colour which we call PS1.0 (Production Spectrum 1.0)
The Holographic LED Module uses the following LEDs:
Production Spectrum 1.0
• Deep Red. 20 LEDs, (650-660nm)
• Royal Blue, 4 LED’s, (440-445nm)
• Warm White, 4 LED’s, (2700K warm white)
• Cool White, 8 LED’s, (5650K cool white)
• Infra-Red, 1 LED (725-740nm)
[h=1]PHILIPS XITANIUM DIGITAL DRIVERS[/h]
The Philips Xitanium digital driver converts AC electricity into a very smooth ripple free DC supply. Philips are an industry leader in LED & LED driver technology, the ultra smooth current flow to the LED module ensures maximum lifetime and minimum faults from your LEDs.
Previous constant current or voltage regulated drivers often tended to fall short in the area of ripple current control and hot-switching (which is an immediate power surge as the unit is switched on)
Small changes in voltage can lead to large changes in current, and one of the main causes of LED faults has been damage due to in-rush current. The Xitanium digital driver gives us unsurpassed precision power regulation as well as protection against hot-switching.
One of the best features of the Xitanium digital drivers is the adjustable output current (AOC) meaning, for example, that they could run future LED modules at higher current settings, which is the likely future of next-gen LED technologies.
The Xitanium digital drivers are also dimmable and programmable. Dimming capabilities (using the Command Centre) allow the grow light to vary from 1-100% light power and also allow the driver to be switched completely off. Previous drivers could only dim to 10% light output, but still required mains timers for the main power supply. Mains timers can cause power surges if too many devices are connected to them. Whereas switching devices on/off can cause power surges, smooth digital dimming does not. Growing with the latest LED technology allows you to take full digital control of your modern urban garden in new ways that is not possible with older LED or HPS lights.
The Xitanium digital driver is rated up to 110W but we run it at 75W so it is operating well within it’s limit. It supplies the Nuventix cooling module with power as well as the LED module, delivering a complete power solution for the grow light in a single dependable package. It is designed for a lifetime of 50,000 hours and should provide many years of reliable service.
Please note. Our driver is designed for 220-240V therefore it will not operate in areas using 120V AC. The reason we do this is to achieve the most efficient conversion of AC to DC and the highest level of regulation. If demand is high enough we will consider making a version of our grow light optimised for 120V AC.
[h=1]NUVENTIX SYNJET[/h]
Our Holographic LED grow light uses an amazing new, almost silent cooling technology
Traditional rotary cooling fans are noisy and often the least reliable part of a good quality LED growlight. The vents above such rotary cooling fans often collect dust and moisture, they are also a hazard if a hanging chain (or other item) falls through the vent.
The LED & electronics industry has been eagerly awaiting a quieter, more effective and more reliable alternative to the rotary cooling fan. Enter the SynJet device from Nuventix, a sophisticated cooling solution from a company that specialise in high-end cooling technology.
The SynJet is a revolutionary electronic device used for cooling electronic components. It is an electronically-controlled device with an oscillating magnetic diaphragm membrane which moves up and down rapidly, creating high velocity air flow. This type of technology has no traditional moving parts, it is also extremely effective and reliable. We use the latest generation SynJet with an expected lifetime of 200,000 hours. This is the most reliable active-air cooling solution available today.
The first thing you notice when you switch on the Holographic LED grow light is that it is almost silent and small - valuable features for many indoor growers. The LED module is attached directly to a heat sink which receives pulsed turbulent air flow at high velocity from the SynJet. This effectively removes the heat from the heat sink and the internal case.
The Holographic Series LED grow light can be used vertically or horizontally while maintaining the same thermal performance thanks to the SynJet in combination with the 2mm copper core circuit board. With older style LED grow lights overheating would easily occur if the unit was positioned at 45º to the plants, often causing LED modules to overheat and fail. The bigger the wattage of the grow light the more of an issue this became.
[h=1]HOLOGRAPHIC OPTICAL SYSTEM[/h]
Of all the advanced technologies used in our LED grow light the most unique is the holographic optical system. This smart 3-part optic is the first truly homogenous and variable light distribution technology for the LED grow light industry.
The first 2 stages of the optical system take the LED light and collimate it into a narrow beam, focussed at ‘infinity’ with little divergence.
This light is then delivered into the 3rd stage, a holographic diffusion optic which is comprised of an optical grade polycarbonate with a micro structured surface which acts as if covered with millions of tiny micro lenses. These blend the different light wavelengths together and also remove any illumination hot spots, projecting a light field with perfectly even intensity from centre to edge.
The 3-part combination of the Rebel optics, Ledil optics and holographic diffusion system combine to give superb synergy. Despite using a complex multistage optical solution the the throughput of light remains incredibly high and results in an optical system that provides unsurpassed distribution control and delivery of light.
The standard holographic diffuser supplied with each grow light gives an 80° x 80° light delivery. However the holographic diffusers are designed to be interchanged allowing you to personalise the size and shape of your light field according to the restrictions of your grow room and the intensity of light required by your plants at different stages of their growth.
We stock a range of holographic diffusers with different light shaping effects that will allow you to use your grow room to maximum efficiency no matter what shape you have or how you wish to use that space. By interchanging different diffusion optics you can adjust the angle of light on the ‘X’ axis from 20° to 90°, and the same on the ‘Y’ axis. This gives a range of diffusion optics from 90°x20° to 20° x 90° and everything in-between. By increasing or reducing the height of the grow light above the plants you can alter the size and intensity (but not shape) of the light field
Examples
The 60°x60° diffusion optic is perfect if you wish to focus the LED light into a narrow intense light beam at a low height to finish blooming a mature plant.
A 40°x40° optic is ideal for commercial greenhouse growers who want to hang the light from a high ceiling but still retain high light intensity at plant canopy level.
An 80°x50° provides great coverage for rectangular shape grow rooms. Using two units each equipped with the 80°x50° optic will create superb canopy coverage flowering in a 1.2x1.2m indoor grow tent. Each light will illuminate half of the grow area, and if angled inwards slightly it will maximize light penetration.

All in all this is very safe, dynamic and superior in quality.
[h=1]HOLOGRAPHIC SERIES 1 OVERVIEW[/h]
The Holographic Series 1 is a 75W LED grow light with the performance to beat a 250W HPS. It is built on 5 superior components:
• The latest super-bright Philips ‘Rebel’ LEDs with custom narrow band-gap binning. This means we specifically select individual LED chips to output extremely intense light at a very narrow selection of wavelengths for maximum performance.
• Matching EU manufactured Philips digital driver for fully stable power delivery
• An amazing, near-silent high-tech cooling module
• An innovative new optical system with adjustable beam angle control and uniform distribution of spectra and intensity.
• A modular power and control solution. The German-manufactured WAGO power control system is by far the best quality power control system we could build into our LED grow light.
Our LED grow light is built in the EU and uses the best technology from industry-leading suppliers. There is nothing else quite like it.
Grownorthern are one of the few established LED grow light providers to assemble our products outside of China. The philosophy has been to build an indoor LED grow light with the very best quality components from the best suppliers.
The Holographic Series 1 LED grow light is small, silent and powerful. Two units will give equivalent, or slightly better, performance than a 600W HPS and use just 150W of electricity. Using multiple Holographic Series LED grow lights allows a much more even distribution of light than is possible from a single light source with less shadows. With LED several points of illumination are always better than one.
Ours is the first LED grow light to use a holographic diffuser. This is an optical grade polycarbonate with a high-tech surface micro structure which the LED light shines through. The light field is projected evenly without any optical hot-spots. Now the corner of your grow room is a bright as the centre. Swapping to a different holographic filter you can change the size and shape of the light field. This is the first grow light to incorporate a changeable diffuser.
The Holographic Series 1 LED grow light takes LED grow-light technology to new levels with a compact 200mm x 230mm x57mm size allowing you to use more of your grow room for plants and less for equipment.
Our design brings together some top quality components into a unique design which you won't find anywhere else.
The acclaimed high performance Philips Rebel LEDs deliver the most intense LED light. Philips LED technology is more expensive than many other brands but the technical performance, reliability and build quality is as good as it gets. Philips Rebel LEDs convert between 43-53% of the electricity into light - over twice as efficient as the much cheaper Chinese chip encapsulations and COB (‘chip on board’) alternatives.
Combining the specially selected LEDs with narrow wavelength output and the latest white lighting means we not only outperform the previous ‘Modular’ LEDs but also the rebel upgrade for that series from Grow Northern. The Holographic Series 1 LED Grow light is a product where quality and performance are prioritised
Old rotary cooling fans are replaced with a silent cooling system based on an oscillating magnetic diaphragm - the Nuventix ‘Synthetic Jet’ (SynJet) cooling system. Nuventix are based in the USA and supply high end cooling without the traditional moving parts normally used in rotary cooling fans. The SynJet allows precision directional air flow, and is far more efficient than rotary cooling fans. This means longer life, more effective cooling and near-silent operation.
The LED metal-core printed circuit board (MCPCB) uses a 2mm copper core which gives added strength to the board but the main function of the copper is to distribute heat preventing temperature hot spots. Copper is better heat conductor than aluminium typically used in low-end LED designs. A Philips Xitanium digital driver converts AC to DC electricity which powers the LED module. The LED module is laser cut and machine soldered in the EU, not hand soldered in China.
The power control system is the German manufactured Winsta Wago, an established quality and safety leader in the field of interconnectivity.
Everything about our design has been done to optimise build quality, synergy and performance. When we designed the Holographic Series 1 LED grow light we did not compromise quality.
The Holographic Series LED design was fine-tuned, developed and manufactured in the UK by Grownorthern.
