New Grower germanation question

Hey guys, I have just germd my first batch of seeds that I actually bought. (other grows were bag seed) My question is what kind of germination rate should I expect from quality seeds? I dropped 10 mi5 and 1each of blue lemon thia and green bud in water. 3 days later all but the 2 largest mi5 seeds have popped and been planted. After soaking for 3 days should I just throw out the remaining 2 mi5 seeds or let them sit for s few more days and see what happens?

Hey Tommy. I wouldn't let them soak in water completely for more than 36 hours they can become water logged and be no good. After about 24 hours usually, you would want to pull them out and put them into a damp paper towel in a plastic bag, unless they have sprouted a taproot in which case you can plant them immediately.

Otherwise I would say that is a pretty good germination rate you got there. 83%
I would pull those out and keep them in a damp paper towel for another day and see how it goes. Maybe you can get those to sprout and move up to 100%

Alright, thanks for getting back to me. What gets me is these last 2 mi5 seeds arnt even soft yet. I was going to squeeze them and see if they spread open but there still rock hard.. They are the largest of the pack tho, maybe it will just take them a while to soften up.

Hmm. This is true. I would be willing to bet that they will just take longer to sprout being harder and bigger. I have heard of scratching the outside of the seed in various ways to kinda make it open easier. Not sure if that is the best option since it's already wet, though. Just let it roll and see what happens in another day or two.

80+ germination is good. 90 to 100% is great. You can try to gently crack those last two seeds. Then put them right into some soil and keep them moist.

Hey guys, So last night I took them out of the water and put them in a wet paper towel and into a ziplock bag. I also scratched one up with my finger nail. I checked this morning and nothing had changed so i tossed them on top my satellite box for heat. Just checked again and the tap root of the one i scratched is poking out... So I scratched the other one and put it back on the satellite box.. hoping it pops too.

just an fyi, i had a seed that didnt pop out of 8, i just left it in my wet paper towel, in between two ceramic plates, and put that into a baggie, blew some air into it, sealed it and put it in my closet. I basically just checked on it periodically every 12 hours or so, til i eventually just gave up. well i forgot about it, and about 7-8 days later, guess what, i remembered, checked and boom- it popped. so dont give up! let it sit, ive read it can take up to 11 days to germ a seed, doesnt happen often, but does happen
