I have some Erdpurt seeds to do a lil crossing with, last season I purchased 25 diff strains and never found one to be as good as my old white widow which i still have from 94.So i thought I would like to try to do a lil breeding of strains.I live north of the 49th in ontario canada. It gets cold fast here and fast strain's and autos rule here.I had been growing a strain for yrs here in which i believe was the freeze (I bred it to an pure afghani DNA last season and no longer have the strain).I dont limit my growing to the northern part of the province a I make the occasional trip to the southern part of this province often and manage to stick my shovel in there aswell.I enjoyed the Dr grnthumb iranian auto's and managed to keep a mother of it and I also have 11 fem seeds.I think these to will make a great x for the northern climate in which i live.I will also try to x the widow with the erdpurt.
I have lots of questions of course , has anyone bred auto's with regular seeds if so how was your outcome ?Did you have auto pheno's aswell as photo period phenos? where the males more auto or the females? did you bx them or recross with another strain? Did you start lots of seeds then pick the first one to show balls and bred it or did you pick the first one to show a hair? or did you breed both ways after the first cross? wondering how you picked the phenos you wanted and made em? thanks for any info Cheers

Wow you have a great collection to start with! what are they....Fem Auto's...Photo...Fem Photo?

You should consider taking your potent white widow seeds, and making some pure seeds of those. Then you can try to make it into an auto strain, but that is a lengthier process that should take at least 2 years if worked on continuously.

In terms of crossing an auto with a photo:
If aa is auto, and AA is Photo, since photo is the dominant gene...

__A___A

a| (Aa) (Aa)

a| (Aa) (Aa)

All offspring in the cross will be photoperiod plants.

When you cross those:

___A___ a

A| (AA) (Aa)

a| (Aa) (aa)

One fourth of the offspring from the second generation (f2) will be autoflowering (aa), one fourth will be photoperiod with no auto gene (AA) and half will be photoperiod with a recessive auto gene to pass on (Aa). (Aa) offspring will act like the f1 (photo x auto) offspring in terms of breeding and autoflowering offspring ratios.

This!
Make regs and fems, you don't wanna loose a good 94 widow!

It's good to start breeding with true breeding parents, so you can learn about dominant and recessive traits of the strains you hold, just making a hybrid out of hybrids will make your seed population a pheno lottery:) ...which can be very good if you plan to select for some(many) generations and create a new line of your own.
