Hey all - working on my 3rd grow here and I noticed today that the roots that are coming through the bottom of my airpot look fuzzy or like they are growing some kind of mold. Is this something to be concerned about? Will the airpot just prune these off?

I just fed them yesterday and didn't notice this during the feed.

The plant has been a beast so far and looks incredibly healthy otherwise. I included other pics to show how good it looks up top. Its the bushiest plant I've ever grown and seems to be growing almost an inch a day lately.

Grow info:

- RP Purple Wreck strain (photoperiod)
- 8.4L airpots with happy frog / perlite / dolomite lime mix
- GH Floraduo nutes & additives
- 150W HPS + 200W SolarFlare LED
- 2nd week of flowering
- alternating 3/4 strength feeding with water + molasses

Yeah you got the base in upside down. I still had roots poking out the bottom with them in the right way, but they soon disappear.

your problem is that the airpot is not assembled correctly. The solid nodes should go at the top and the base should be inserted three holes up. you should be able to notice that the first three rows of holes are slightly bigger than the rest. This is to allow airflow under the roots in order to prune them.

Its too late to correct now, so the best thing you can do is to follow dabaraccus advice and raise the pot off the floor with a grate or a couple of bricks to allow airflow under the pot. This should also boost your growth once the roots are airpruned as they will then develop more of the web like roots that airpots are known for.

Thanks guys! I thought the airpots were supposed to have a little reservoir at the bottom, hence the few rows of solid nubs. Guess I had it backwards. Anyhow, the plant is absolutely chugging along so I'm not too worried about it. I'll try to prop it up somehow to get airflow going under there.

Found the airpot directions again online... You guys are obviously totally right. Dumb stoner mistake on my part, but I'm glad I posted pics so you guys could catch it and help me out!

Help, having the same problem, but my air pot is assembled correctly. The grate is 3 rows up, and the solid nodes are on top, everything is correct it's jus getting fuzzy white stuff on the roots like the op

Eljefemoe, If that's mold try using Bayer Serenade. I had something similar on the stems of my plants and the Serenade nipped it.:goodluck:

No, this is an old post, eljefemoe solved his problem as he had his air pot assembled wrong ,but I'm having the same problem ,but my pot is assembled correctly
