Why not?
Don't know the strains, but lightly pollinate the females once they start flowering, you'll have some seeds at the end. Germinate a few of the new F1's and who knows, if they grow good you got a good handfull of seeds for free.
EDIT:And if they don't grow to your liking then eat the seeds as a healthy and tasty snack

I know this is old but thought i give my experience with floating seeds when using the soaking methood...if you soak them for 12-24 hours and a few don't sink try tapping them a few times into the water...If that doesn't work usually means the shell is too hard and needs to be a lil scuffed up..Try the matchbox sandpaper trick than re soak them and see if they sink...
I usually soak them in a shot glass for 24 hours than put them in between a few squares of tissue paper I have better results with tissue paper than paper towel...I either put them in 2 plates or use a sandwich bag...I get 100% germ rate with this technique and have been using it for a few years now...
