Hi guys! I'm sick of never being able to get good green and so i am finally going to attempt a grow myself. Never grown anything in my life so should be an experience!

First off, for my first attempt I am going to use a chest of drawers that i have prepared and turned into stealth cupboard. Dimensions are 41cm wide 41cm deep and 100cm high (Going to progress to growtent etc later). I have already purchased some Super Skunk Automatic (Autoflowering). I have purchased a GreenLamp 45w Blue Spectrum 6400k CFL grow light and a GreenLamp 45w Red Spectrum 2700k CFL light from Amazon. I have fitted intake and outake fans onto cupboard. Walls are also covered in Mylar.

My questions are (for now lol):

due to relatively small size of the cupboard and low power of lights (which i intend to run together at 20-4 cycle for the whole duration), would it possible to grow 2 in there or should i just stick to the 1 plant for now?

Will this light setup be enough or should i get more? and if so higher wattage lights or just add more of the same?

Bearing in mind the height (after pot and lights there is around 80cm to use for growing), what sort of yield could i expect from a single plant in such a small space?

Please no suggestions such as bigger cupboard etc, at the mo i need to work with what i got and this is good training for when i set up the grow tent and 400w light...........

many thanks

i would place 4 plants in there in 10 liter buckets given that you can fit the buckets, if not then i would still put 4 females only in smaller buckets in order to maximize the space and use it to the fullest.

as far as lights are conserned you could go for a 250w hps, it could improve the density in your buds, but that being said.. i think you have made the correct purchase for your first grow and i would reccommend you to try it first. first grow is never an undivided success and after it you will have a much better idea of what it takes to get a good harvest.

the yield depends on the strain, the root space and how well you cover the space you have available. but i do think you could get a bigger yield if you go with more plants unless the strain you are growing is known to grow large so that you know that you will cover that space.

i dont think the height of the cabin is your biggest concern, its rather the floorspace that limits you so you should try to use the height by growing the plants so tall that they use the volume that is available... without them becoming too dense ofc

Thanks for the advice dude. Firstly, i think i could only fit 1x10 litre bucket in there so 4 would be out the question :( should i maybe do 2 plants in 2x5 litres? Also a 250HPS in there would be a tight fit and take up lots of already precious space and create more heat/vent issues??

If my calculations are right thats about 16 inches by 16 inches by 40nches.that in my opinion would be good for one plant to have proper light penitration and air circulation. If you get a healthy plant in there it will fill that space up.

Welcome to the forum. I agree, 1 plant is about all you can fit in that space. A little more light wouldn't hurt. Perhaps you can put splitters on your fixtures and double them up. Maybe 1 6500ks and 3 2700k.

I'm going to move your thread over to the New Growers forum. I moderate it, along with Joe Dirt and Jackal. We can help you along to a successful first grow.

im sorry to respectfully disagree that 1 plant will cover the volum efficiently..

i think that only 1 plant (given that it is an automatic plant) will not cover the space very well. If you go with some lowryder hybrid in 10 liter of soil, im guessing that you will not get more then max 40-50 grams from that plant. ... yea yea i konw autos can yield much more, but there are more small type autos then amazon ones...

so i guess the question would be then... what strain are you planning to grow?

if its a photo, then it really doesnt matter how many you put in there. if its a lowryder based auto, i think that it does.

But lets do the math, if you have 40x40 cm floorspace... then if you cover that space with a 25 cm layer of soil, you will get 40 liters of soil... according to my calculations.. :P

makes no sense to me to use only 10 liters of the 40 liters of rootspace available... unless you have so little light that it doesnt penetrate.

if you go with an amazon auto, 1 plant will be more then enough, but i would still try to jam that 40 liters of soil in there.. one way or the other.

in my view, the number of plants or density of plants in your tent is not at the moment limited mostly by the space, but rather by the light wattage. im afraid i must have read your intro a bit hastily because i thought you had a 250w cfl red spectrum.... the 45 will not cover more then barely 1 plant, and even then its a bit less wattage for one plant then what i personally would prefer.

sorry if im causing more confusion then helping atm :D
