Whats up AFN. Im just about to start my first grow ever and was hoping i could get some friendly advice. This grow is going to be in Washington state and i began prepping my spot today. I dug four 12 inch deep by 12 inch wide holes and mixed in half FFOF and half existing soil (which was very dark and rich with tons of worms). As well as the soil, half a cup of blood and fishbone meal was also mixed in. All i need now is a couple beans and i can finally start. Im interested in russian rocket fuel, blue himalayan diesel, and MI5. Are there any strains that will outpreform my choices? Will i need any additional fertilizer other than what the soil was ammended with? How can i keep deer and rabbits out of my spot? Is there any additional info i will need to get this started?

Those are very good strains to go with. You will still need to add nutes after awhile. If you have rabbit and deer problems you will need some sort of fence to keep them out.

Chicken wire is what i will be using to keep animals away. At lease while small. Ill get garden stakes to hold them inplace. Otherthing you can do is buy predator urine. Weird thing i heard once was feeding your dog meat the day before and taking them to the plot. Its weird, when i trapped i was so careful not to leave smell behind or nothing would come close. Makes no sence why animals would mess with a plot. Just means animals like it as much as us i guess. Good luck and good weather.

Edit: I used a combination of hot pepper, lemon, garlic, and dish soap once outside with no damage by animals. Lost one to some type boring catapillar tho.

Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellent works very well. I've been using it for 4 years and have not had a plant eaten. Monthly treatments are all that are needed. Anything that is water soluable will need to be reapplied after every rain. Spider mites are sometimes an issue outdoors. I've lost whole crops to them. I find that weekly treatments of insecticidal soap keep them in check.

Of the 3 strains you mentioned, Mi5 will probably do the best. It's generally bigger in size and yield that either HBD or RRF. I've yet to have anything out produce Mi5 outdoors. Yes, you'll also need some supplemental nutes, especially for bloom. And be careful with the blood and fish meals. Sometimes critters smell it and think something is buried there and will try and dig it up.

So for critter control would Lady bugs and neem oil be a good choice for spider mites? And rabbit and deer repelent? I want to be completely organic because i dont want to pollute the stream thats nearby. Im also going to attempt to brew some guano tea for flowering. Ill try to post some pics of the plot tomorrow so you all can get an idea of what im working with.

I prefer insecticidal soap for mites but neem will work. I wouldn't worry about polluting the stream. The small amounts you will be using aren't going to make a difference. I'm not 100% certain but I believe Liquid Fence is either all organic or mostly.
