New Grower First Grow - HSO Blue Dream Auto - Transplant worries...

I grow organic too, no bottled nutrients any more all soil jut add water. I am changing my mix trying to figure out what works best for me. Not perfect but have good results. The organics with out bottled nutes gives me the best flavor and smell and is the easiest for me to do. I just mix, cook, plant, transplant and water.

So this is my very first grow and I'm worried I'm already off to a rocky start. I did tons of research but seemed to have crossed my wires when it comes to auto vs. photo methods. I read several posts here with growers saying that they had no issues with transplanting so I went ahead and got a seedling going in a small plastic pot. But now I've been coming across lots of posts saying that transplanting is bad and may stunt growth!

Here's my four day seedling under Mars 600 (280w) led. I've got another seed germinating. I've got a stealth situation going and don't want to go through the effort for just a few grams of stunted growth after transplanting. Should I go ahead and transplant or toss and order more seeds?:sadcry::wall:
Hey brother! Hope you are doing well.
Well I'd guess that you'll manage anyway :)
You could even let it grow in the small cup if you wanted - there is a dedicated section on 'Microgrows' and I've seen some people running autos in cups..! Of course it's not the best option, especially since you're starting!
Transplanting an auto is doable but I've never done it personally.
Some growers do it this way:
They start in a small cup such as yours, then they kinda transplant it, but not really.
What I mean by that is this:
(the pics don't belong to me and were copied from google.com)
1. Take the final pot you wanna grow her in, and put some soil like that, with some missing in the centre:

2. Remove the bottom of your cup and make holes (if you can!):

Your plants should in the cup of course...
I mean, if you can do that with you cup, do it! It will not really stress the plant, and will allow her roots to expand within the larger pot.
Hope this helps!
Peace,

I have also cut the bottom off the cup, carefully split the cup down one side, put cup in dirt like Frank shows and pulled the cup up and out while pressing on the soil around it.

When you transplant water first. Don't transplant with dry soil. Its sticks together better if it's damp.

Thanks for the clarification. I've never done it myself but it seems like a great idea! And that way, it's possible to use different soil mixes given the age and needs of the plant!
Thank you!!
Peace,

Ya you should look at my grows in the organic section. I am working on this right now. I have a veg and bloom mix. I don't feed any more. Its all in my soil. My current grow is in a #2 nursery pot. I will transplant at day 30 in to a much larger pot for the next 40 days. Its a fun and easy way to do things. I am still working on things so don't try to copy me yet but the grows might interest you. There are some others over in the organics that are much better growers than me that have different ways of doing things that might interest you also.

Thanks a lot!
I'm having a look at it just now!
