I'm starting my 1st grow (DP-Think Different, Auto-Fem). My seedling is germinated in a peat cube and 5" tall. I plan on using DWC method and have everything set up, using clay pellets. I have Gen. Hydro Flora Duo A&B nutes. My pot holds 3.5 gals and I have 2.5 gals in now. What ratio and strength should I mix my nutes and when should I strengthen from the initial setting. I'm hoping to adjust my pH to 6.0 and keep the heat at 75* F. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try for a weak feed of about 150-250 ppm and pH 5.8, then monitor pH and ppm each am and pm.

You will base future feedings on those numbers you collect. You should also note your res temps.

It's important in dwc to sterilize everything, clean with hot soapy water and even bleach water on occasion. You should also use a res clearing agent to help avoid root rot. I like sm-90 at 2 mil a gallon, some people use 30% h2o2 ( food grade hydrogen peroxide). But the are many brands available.

Thanks for the info. What conductivity meter do you use ? I've seen prices range from $9 to $2999.00.

I'll have to have a look I bought mine like 5 years ago for about 50 bucks or less it's been fine. That's the type of thing that is very reliable seems to last a long time. Whereas the PH meters, don't plan on those lasting more than a year or at least if you buy an expensive one you have to replace your tips every year.

These are what I use what they say about 50 bucks I just had to look around pretty hard to find themselves meter for 50 bucks but I found it.

Thank you, again ! I didn't know if a less expensive one would work as well and I sure wasn't getting in to the $500.00 range. Also, in what direction can I expect my pH reading to go as nutrients get used up ?

Text book would be water level falls, ppm stays the same and pH stays the same.

In reality it is best to feed a little hungry in which case you will see water level falls, ppm falls and pH rises. If the pH doesn't rise over 6.3ish between res changes and the other levels are falling, your golden.

There are unfortunately about 20 different conditions you can experience and each requires a different adjustment.
