She flowered at day 24 and at 49 days in flower we have a total of 73 days. it was early so she’s short but stout. WW not 100% on source but I think ILGM. In soil ( FFOF w/ GH Flora nutes). Accidentally gave her some like 4 days ago. Major goof but it happens.

hope you enjoy these pics.

Edit: the white stuff is diatomaceous earth.

Have you checked trichomes with a pocket scope or usb cam etc? You still have a lot of white pistils and that normally means more to grow.

Doesent look ready to me. Way too many white pistils, looks like it still has some bulking up to do. But check the trichomes, if it doesent look like definitely put it down asap based on trichomes, let it go for a while still.

So harbor Freight Tools blessed me with a cheap but seemingly decent product, especially for only $5.40 after tax.
Now will I be able to take a picture through it is the question.
I took a quick peak at her through the loop and based off my limited understandingi want to see 50-80% of white hairs turned orange. As well as 50% aprox ( I think ) of trichomes starting to darken.
Also almost all of the trichomes at the top of the plant, and just pretty much all over, have mushroom tips which I read means they’ve reached their apex and will lose potency from here on out.
I will attempt to take pics with the loop as soon as I finish my waffles and have a smoke.

Its about the color of trichomes. Clear trichome is not ready, milky white/cloudy is ready and on its peak THC levels, amber has degraded THC into CBN, giving it more of a couch lock effect more amber you have. Some strains might make it easier to harvest all milky, while others might go amber a bit before all have turned from clear to milky.

So if you want clear sativa high, dont let much if any amber come to it. If you want balanced effect, make it like 10-15% amber and if you want heavy indica smoke, let it to even to 50% amber(way too much imo, but i heard some go even that far). But remember all the CBN in the amber trichomes is away from THC and CBN is not psychoactive like THC, just makes the high more couch locky.

Nice. Very concise and helpful. I think I’m at around 15/20% amber at most as I did end up waiting.

is there any reason why i shouldn’t dry my bud in a tent with other plants, just above the lights, like way above, since the humidity needs to be monitored /controlled...

I mean might as well right?

You want to dry them in dark and not too dry, so that they dont dry up too much on the surface, while still leaving insides real wet. You also dont want to keep it in too warm, warmth will dry them up too fast, possibly boil off some terpenes and can cause mould, if you dont dry up too fast. If you want to dry in your tent, dont have the light on in there, so dont have other plants in there while doing it.

Personally i have made a simple ghetto dry box from stacking two cardboard boxes and some holes for ventilation. Normal room RH% is too low here, so having it in a box like that helps.

Ideal dry time is like 5 days or so, but if it is way too dry where you live(like here, where rh is so low they dry up way quicker than that), the cardboard box helps a bit, remember to open it fully few times a day to let out the moisture better, especially at beginning and have RH meter in it preferably. Also if buds dry up too fast, so that they get too crispy on the outside, but still wet inside, if you put them in a closed jar for like a hour or few, the moisture will even out and you can air dry a bit better again. Basically doing this to even out the moisture inside the buds if drying room RH is too low.

If you manage to have your plants in tent, while you have these plants dring so that they dont get any light on them, that they have good RH and temperature, then ofc you can dry in your tent, but i doubt you would get good enough climate for drying there. Ofc you could even dry in a oven, but that makes the weed pretty shitty.

Well since you Put it like that... can’t hurt to just make a little box and borrow a hygrometer to check RH periodically. It’s decently humid here rn so maybe just in my closet.
