Ok so I’m going to be doing a small lowryder grow, hopefully averaging 55-70 days seed to harvest. I’m going to explain my planned setup and please inform me of things I should do or should change. Grow Area is going be about 33W” x 33L” x 40H”. Lighting is a (1) 250w cfl 2700k bulb and (4) 85w cfl's 3200k. I plan on using soil and planting an autoflowering lowryder strain. Now I want to bring a few things up, please provide suggestions.

In my space (33”x33”) how many lowryder plants could fit reasonably? Since these plants (autoflowering) will spend most of their life flowering I got the 2700k (red/orange spectrum) bulb, is that a good idea? Also, I hear mixed things about the light cycle with autoflowering strains…should I go 12/12 from the start or 18/6? I heard 12/12 initially will produce more female plants? What size pots? Lastly, what is a secure reliable site to order lowryder seeds? Any particular strain recommended?

Hi

Well it depends on what size of pots you are using as to how big the plants get. Obviously the more pots the less room the plants have to grow. It also depends on the strain you are growing as different strains will grow different sizes. I would say 4 large plants or up to 9 small plants but i think 7 would be better set-up with a row of 3 in the middle and 2 on top and the bottom. The plants will spend most of their time flowering yes they typically start showing sex around the 3 week mark give or take a week. The red/orange mix will be okay. You will want to do a 20/4 cycle with autos througout the entire grow. I prefer attitude when ordering strains. You'll have to decide on your own how many pots and how big but most people use 3 gallon pots for autos. The further the taproot can grow generally the bigger the plant. Take a look at the attitude and find a strain that suits your needs as everyones needs are different or suggest what you like or need and maybe we can help you further with strain recomendations.

Thanks beaver,I was going to say the same thing.I got mine in 3 gallon pots and one 3.5 gallon air pot ,this will be my second grow, first grow in gallon pots worked but yield was low.I agree, stick with the bigger pots. Your lights seem ok, but when you have the plants in ther you can check and see if they are all getting light,if not add more. Also what soil are you using?and what nutes?

I just have to say that Lowryder #2 is a great plant to start with, and if you do a seed run with it, will give you the breeding stock for future autos to be made... Lowryder #1 however is likely to disappoint you in almost every category, very small yield and low potency and smell... However, anything made from the Lowryder and out-crossed will be a relatively easy plant to grow and there are lots of good choices like Dieselryder etc.
I would stay away from the super autos until you have some grows under your belt, they take longer and are more likely to give you problems in my opinion.

Well I've already ordered some seeds from Attitude. I got some Purple Ryder seeds which is F7 Mazar x Lowryder, not sure if it's considered lowryder 2 or 1. Im a bit dissappoint if they're 1 since someone just said the yield are low. However the sight said they produce large nuggets. I was thinkin 2 gallon square pots to save spae, I certainly get the logic behind the bigger pots just worried about space. Recommendation on soil and nutes?? Keep in mind I dont need top dollar nutes, also, do i even need veg nutes or should i just get bloom nutes since by the time you can add nutes its almost flowering, no? Soil wise I know to just stay away from miraclegrow. So let me have it peeps.

fox farm ocean forest for soil. an since you dont need all the nutes in the world do your self a favor simplify things and grab a genral organics GO BOX..comes with everything youl ever need nutrient wise i bought it and couldnt be happier

How do you typically germinate, I've always had success with wet paper towel method. Any diff for lowryders?

Paper towel method works great just make sure you plant them tap root down as soon as you see a lil tail hatch to minimize stunting. You can also use Promix HP or BX for soil, its great stuff. They say BX for seedlings and then into HP as the BX retains moisture better than the HP.

I used burpee coir starter pots this last time and was really impressed with the speed of germination. Best of luck vv!

What I was saying is that Lowryder #1 on its own does not yield well.... what I actually said was, "However, anything made from the Lowryder and out-crossed will be a relatively easy plant to grow and there are lots of good choices like Dieselryder etc." Purple-ryder falls under this category and you will most likely be pleased, especially with square pots of that size!
