Hi peeps! So I’ve been reading lots of crazy threads where people have been feeding fruit juice to their plants. Beside soaking the bottom of a branch in fruit juice once its harvest time, there are not many options out there. It doesnt give a great result when smoked, if there was too much sugar in the water mix and since sugar burns, it would caramelize and give a harsh taste when smoked. So since I am growing pure Ruderalis landrace, it has a rich earthy, tribal taste, how crazy would it be to feed it a highly diluted neutral rose water here and there during flowering and harvest to give some kind of floral notes ? It has no sugar so no chance to alter the medium or to get mold /bacteria I presume.
Here are our two candidates. 15 days [image] since the first 1 finger set of leaves fully develloped.
The one on the right has been FIMmed once it’s second set of 5 finger leaves showed up.
I have a very tight schedule but I am trying to see if a warmer environnement and love can produce a performant FIMmed double cola Ruderalis if done in the middle of the second week. ^^
Any opinion or feedback about this would be great . ^

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, that's not how feeding works.. The fruit juices you are reading about are most likely fermented fruits. There is nothing you can feed a plant to change or add to its terps. That's genetic. You can add certain things to bring out more of what's already there, but nothing you can add to change or add to it. There's no way to add "floral notes" if they aren't there already.

That is what I believe also but you know, science/experimentation ^_^ Royal Queen Seeds had that article about how to flavor the weed through different technique and essential oil , etc but I found them to be a little extravagant. https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blo...annabis-before-during-and-after-harvest-n1176
And since we seem to be a very large community, I was thinking someone somewhere has done it and might confirm if it's bullshit or not ^_^ Thanks Proph always on point. I will test with only one plant for my own curiosity and to confirm indeed that it's all bullshit. I believe temp, sun, medium type and just enough water with enough nutrients should improve the taste. (Im doing phenotype selection , got quite a few started last week)

Sugars and carbs and animos will help bring out the full terp profile of both smell and taste. That's what's inside of all those "bud sweeteners" that are on the market.. Chopping the plant at the exact right time will help to. Some terp profiles can change quickly, and can have totally different smells and tastes if chopped at 60 days instead of 70, or 70 instead of 80.

Oh ok! And for a pure rudy, should I wait until the "hair" are somewhat milky or I should cut it while its transparent to limit the earthy rich taste? I am not looking for the THC but more for CBD. Do you think the CBD levels will be optimal at this point? Thanks again! :)

Cannabis is cannabis. It doesn't matter if its a rudy or a photo period plant.. The harvest window remains the same.. Thc and cbn/cbd are at its highest levels when the buds have half clear and half cloudy trichs.

Ok perfect . At least I know a little more where I'm going with this :) I'm still working on that double cola so I just hope I chose the right timing to do it and it won't badly affect it's growth. I pinched it 3 days ago

Multiple responses seem off base. His question does not concern adding to feed or harvested plant levels of sugars, carbohydrates, terpenes, etc. His question is about adding "highly diluted neutral rose water here and there during flowering and harvest to give some kind of floral notes? It has no sugar..." He's asking about adding rose-like, floral odor.

Theoretically, it might work to some small extent (but I doubt will actually do anything perceptible). Presuming the relevant water-soluble rose odor subtances (likely essential oils, perhaps terpenes) can be taken up by the roots and spread or diffuse throughout the plant without being fermented by microbes or metabolized by plant cells, yes some odor molecules may make into bud cells/tissues. But whether any rose-derived odor would be noticeable, I'd doubt it.

Many people use smelly fish and manure fertilizers, and their buds do not smell like fish or manure. Probably relevant to rose water, do those growers mixing SNS-209 in their feed water (rosemary oil diffuses into plant tissues, making them distasteful to/not eaten by many insects) ever notice their buds having a related odor? I used SNS-209 for several indoor grows (actually seemed to work well, just don't need it now) and never noticed any non-cannabis odor.

Well, I got his point that everything is processed through the roots system it's factual^_^ Ive read it will indeed filter anything the plant doesnt need. It was more with that technique of harvesting and soaking the plants in any liquid you want them to take as they heat up and become thirsty once cutted. Some people use welsh's juice ( I swear to God people sometimes...) but the sugar intake makes the buds pretty much unsmokeable because the sugar caramelize. I was asking if any of us has done it before with rose water. I just want a barely noticeable fragance without the whole thing becoming a marshmallow. I'm putting it to the test anyway, Ive got quite a few going so one strong Rudy can sacrifice for the cause. Your explanations make sense. That's what I f*ckin love about this community. People in general know what they are talking about. Thanks for responding guys.

So guys, its confirmed, if you FIM the second five fingers sprout, it will give a double cola . It's seems to be the perfect timming without affecting the growth. I'll just keep a normal alga grow solution without raising the amount of nutrients. they seem happy with water every 3-4 days and alternating solution/fresh water. You can see the difference between the one FIMmed and the remaining untouched one. It's encouraging.
