Hey All!

Thought I'd get started on a grow Journal for a Fast & Vast (FAV from now on). This will be the second FAV that I'm attempting.

The first grow was a deep water culture in a green house and is still going now. Seed was germinated on the 27 November. I'll keep you guys updated on that one as well as posting about the new one - let me know if this gets too confusing and I'll remove it.

The new FAV was germinated directly to soil so will be a soil only grow- no paper towel or seed in water involved in the process. Will be interesting to see a comparison between seed and deep water. Green house is a bit full at the moment so this one will be put indoors under an LED panel for the first 1.5 weeks or so. Hopefully the original FAV will be done by then and this will take it's place in the green house.

Some info on the deep water grow -

  • Temp has fluctuated from 24c through to mid 40's at times.
  • Nutrients have gone as high as 1200ppm with no bad reaction from the plant.
  • 1.3m tall

Some info on the new soil grow -

  • Seed has been started in a seed raising mix in a 400ml cup. After 1.5 weeks it will be moved to a new pot (not decided on pot size yet)
  • Soil used after the transplant will be mix from https://www.autoflower.org/f5/fds-guide-growing-hefty-autos-small-places-206.html
  • Nutes will either be what I've been using with the first grow but may use organic tea mix listed in the same thread above.
  • LED panel used for the first 1.5 to 2 weeks is 150w

Consider this day 1 :)

Day 6

So we're at day 6 of the new FAV. Seems to be going a bit slow but hopefully that'll pick up in the new few days. Does she look a bit small for day 6 to you guys?

Old fav is going well - picture of one of the buds and trics under microscope attached. Hopefully another couple of weeks on this one. Had a bit of a spider mite problem that I think I've got under control now.

looks fine to me ..autos are fast but not that fast lol dont keep moving the cup messing with the roots..most of us plant right into the final home as fast as possible so they dont get a shock...transplant very carefully with autos.:coffee2:

Thanks DABaracuss! First soil grow...the other one is hydro and is pretty damn tall - hope this ones a bit of a shorty.

Looks about the same size as my 5 day candy cush in soil. So hopefully its fine. Fast and vast seems to be a real popular strain here lately. What seed bank is that from? :goodluck:

Producer is Heavyweight Seeds - purchased via Herbies. Yeah it does seem to be popular! I've read good things so hopefully it turns out well. The hydro one that's blooming now has a really strong citrus/orange smell. Should be delicious after it's cured
"munch"

I'll be following you on this grow. I got the Heavyweight massive Midget beans from Herbies waiting to plant.

Day 11

Here we are at day 11!

Definitely had some growth since my last update. Hopefully this will pick up in the next few days - planning on transplanting towards the end of this week but will need to see where it's at. Had someone use my soil mix for a clone of a different strain and apparently they died...mix might be too hot. Will need to test it on another plant just to see how it reacts.

Older FAV is going well too - trics are starting to go cloudy so I would say another week or two max before she gets chopped. Starting to get a bit worried about the branches breaking due to the weight some look like they're carrying. Once the chop happens though I'll post back with pictures of bud, roots and what the wet weight is.

Nice, looking good man. I have a 2 fast 2 vast seed waiting for winter to end so it can get started and go outside.
