Good day to you AFN! Quick question about exhaust fan mounting.

What is your opinion on exhaust fan mounting? Brackets that came with the fan or straps? I have both in possession. Fan is going in a room.

Thanks!

For me ceiling space is an issue, so I decided to try putting the filter on the floor in one of my tents, and exhaust with ducting passing thru a bottom tent porthole. It sits in a tent corner with one end on the floor.
It works great in a 2-auto, 2 ft x 4 ft tent using 4 inch fan/duct.
I don't see why it wouldn't also work for any size grow space.

The fan can be a tad noisy, so some sort of flexible mount can help. I used straps in my 2x4. One surprise for me was that the fan noise does not go down much at lower fan speeds, it seems to make a different kind of vibration noise as the fan controller turns down the speed.

I recommend that the filter be in the grow space on the suction end of the circuit, not outside the grow space on the exhaust side of the fan. Blowing through the filter will plug it sooner because you can't use the pre-filter. As @Simplicio says, you can position the filter anywhere you have space in the grow chamber. The air in there should be moving around lots anyway, so it does not matter much where you extract it from.

Good luck with it. :pighug:
