I have been considering swapping my grow tent and conveting a wardrobe or cupboard to use for growing with my idea being to spread t5's on the roof back and sides of it so light distribution was 100% even. However was wondering does the most powerful light source have to come from the the top. as in if I had equal distribition of light on all sides would this effect growth negativly in any way? My theory was it would increase growth but as tthe plant comunicates from the top downwards would this not confuse it?

adding lights to the side is just supplemental lighting, and will not hurt your plants, it will help fatten side buds and make them a bit larger, but then you have to consider the extra heat created. Since heat can be very harmfull to your plants. If you have proper ventilation and air circulation then you would be fine.

The strongest lights should be on top,and any other light you may have can be used for sidelight.

Cool idea man. I though of this too actually, haha. Good luck. Someone out there has done it I'm sure. You'd need a legit exhaust for that as was already stated by lykaboss.
