I am starting a grow of Deep Blue C in Promix-BX in 5.5 gal Ultra Oxy Pots (HTG's knockoff of Airpots). Today is day #1 above soil. My last grow in Promix-BX I listened to recommendations that "the soil mix has everything a seedling needs - don't feed for first two weeks." In these larger pots I got 5-6 days between feeding/watering (til runoff was seen) The result was that I only got a couple of light feedings before the veg phase completed. My plants were slow growers and never got to normal sizes for the light and strain. I now know that there is nothing in this media but I am not sure when to commence feeding. What I am thinking of doing is to use a 25% of mfr.'s recommended solution of General Hydro's Rapid Start (1-0.5-1) and 25% MagiCal supplement. I will be getting some AN's Voodoo Juice next week which would be day 7. Should I start the ultra light feeding with small amounts of water an inch radius around the plants?

I'd aim for the circle of water to be 1/2 the distance from the pot to the seedling and give it enough water to reach the bottom of the pot or almost reach the bottom of the pot ... the trick is to train your roots to fill the pot fast by making them grow out and down seeking water ... next watering after that should be nearer to the edge of the pot ... try not to drown it ... you're making a circle of water not a big wet spot ... once the roots are trained down and out and the plant is about 2-3 weeks old is the time to begin soaking the entire pot and letting it dry out ...
