Hey everyone,
I posted this question in the intro section, but wanted to ask here as well.

What are your thoughts on the multi place dwc totes (diy of course, maybe in the 15-20gal size). My goal is a perpetual auto tent (4x4) and thought about building 2 or 3, 3 place totes. This way I could harvest 2 small to medium size plants once a month or so.

The other option I'm considering is (4-6) 3.5 gallon dwc buckets (no reservoir, at first anyway:headbang:).

Looking forward to hearing every ones thoughts on this.

I'm really enjoying the site so far. :pass:

@Rifleman has a diy tote thread with good stuff in it. I'm sure he can link ya to it

Here is the link to my building the 27 gallon tote. (20 working gallons)

https://www.autoflower.org/threads/riflemans-xl-dwc-monster-maker.50969/

It has a 6 month old photo plant in it right now, but when that is done I have another lid I want to drill out to fit 4 or 5 growing spots and run it full with the smaller autos. You don't have to use the airpot but I had it and thought wtf. :shooty:

Thanks for the link @Rifleman ! I've been reading all about you and Roscoe's adventures.:crying:

On that note, I know you have grown some monsters in the past :vibe:. What are your thoughts on growing multiple plants in a system such as this vs. growing one big plant.

I suspect that the overall yield (providing things go well) will at least be somewhat similar...but then again, I know exactly ZERO! Which is why I seek the wisdom of the experienced, like yourself. :toke:

I prefer individual buckets over the multiple plants in one that I'm going to do later. One problem won't take an entire crop that way. Also if you're doing water changes in the 20 gallon range it becomes nutrient expensive. The biggest advantage to the tote is being able to walk away from it for 5 days or more.

My plans for an Autumn grow include the tote in my 4x4 stuffed full of dark devils or devil's crack, and no reservoir changes for the duration......why ? To see if I can I reckon.

Yield is a factor of plant genetics as much as anything else. I've taken over 11 ounces from an auto before. Obviously I can't grow two of those in the tote, but they rock a bucket. Placed smartly I can see room for at least 3 smaller autos in the tote without training, so 3 or 4 ounces each? Meh, it all evens out. After a while you have so much grass sitting around that yield doesn't mean much anymore. :vibe:

Problems of the first world!!

THat is my thought also on the multiple site tote. I'm leaning towards trying to run maybe 4, 3.5 gal buckets. The goal is to (try) to produce 4 oz a month. Anything above that will just be gravy:drool:.

Do you think I'll have any issue's with that many plants in a 4x4 tent. The plan is to start two, and then start the other two 40 days later.

Thanks for all the help bro, I really appreciate it!:pass:

Take a look at my journal in my signature. I just harvested two plants in 5 gallon buckets in my 4x4. I could do 4 buckets but it would be a tight fit. I grow in certain times and not in others, but my needs avg an oz a week so when I do grow I try to grow as many and as large as I can. I'm a cheap old man and hate to buy grass. :smoking:

I was running a DIY 6 site 8 gallon tote with 6 clones vegged for about a week and then going into flower. I want to say the buckets were like 16x22x9 something around there. Anyways my best yield from on set was a little over 4 OZ. I would recommend that if you are going to go with multiple autos in 1 tank that you try to give 2-3gallons of "space" per plant. so like a 12-18 gallon tote for 4-6 plants. It can get expensive on nute changes but you dont want them to spike your PPM from drinking water and not using nutes, then get burned.
