I am having problems with my humidity whilst drying. I've checked on it today and it's dropped down to 40% and the tent smells like hay. I've tried hanging a wet towel, a bowl of water and raising the temp with a heater to no avail. I've now put in a pot of kettle water in hopes the steam will raise the humidity.

Absolute nightmare. Is the bud ruined if it dries too quick and smells like hay? is it worth cutting them down and sticking in jars and burping till 58-62 humidity?

I can't stumble at the final hurdle!

Smelling like hay is what you want. It means that the chlorophyll is breaking down. 70°F at 50% RH is perfect. The closer you get the better. I have drried at 88°F and 35% RH they dried too fast but I could not get it any better as we were in a heat wave 111°F outside with ZERO RH. Even with the swamp cooler running and wet towels 35% RH (may have got as low as 15% at times) was the best I could do. The bud went into the jars for curing in less than 3 days and were at 50% RH. I used Boveda 62s and they cured ok. a bit crunchy but the quality was ok.

Do not put in jars too wet it will mold. It needs to be under 70% on your hygrometer in the jar. It will still smell like hay for the first week or so of curing. Burp every day as the process needs oxygen to cure. Then the smell will start to fill in and by the end of two weeks they will smell really good.

:goodluck:

Thanks =) it's on it's 4th day of drying so far and the stems are still bending, I reckon another 2 days and it might be done. I'll order some boveda up just incase I need them. Thanks alot!

Thanks for all your replies. I've just sat down and trimmed and jarred it all. I don't smoke it but I'm growing for my wife who has an autoimmune disease and is constantly in pain. Would you say I've left too many leaves on or is this OK?
