Do any of you use biotabs with coco? I ordered biotabs and want to follow the just add water method with the recommended 50 50 mix of coco perlite though I have been told by many people that biotabs will not work in coco. I am looking for some people that have made it work and want to make sure it would work before I waste time with it.

Hey dude. I've used Biotabs in coco many times. They work fantastically.

Thanks. It is nice to read that you have made the biotabs work in coco. The biotabs guide lists that you only need water but did you have to add the calmag to it? The biotabs guide lists that you do not have to check the ph or ec. Do you test it on there?

No need for cal mag and I dont even own a pH or EC pen. Trust the tabs and theyll reward you well

Thanks. That would make it a lot easier if I do not have to ph test the water. There would be no downside to using ph up and down to get the ph to around 6.0 when I put it in the reservoir is there? I had a few problems on my first grow and want to do extra this time to make sure this grow does go like I want it to on there.

The only thing I would recommend is bubbling your water. It'll add oxygen and remove chlorine. Chlorine will kill the micro herd and you need them to feed the plant. If you do adjust the pH make sure you use something organic as chemicals will effect the herd as well.

Thanks. I put the ascorbic acid vitamin c powder that I add to the water to remove the chlorine or chloramine in the water. I have the gh ph up and ph down. You think using that would not be good for the microbes in the coco on there? Did you find that using the bactrex 1 time every 2 weeks did enough in the coco on there?

It could do yeah. I cant speak from experience though as I've never used anything to change the pH or remove chlorine.... EVER! I was using airstones in a tub to bubble the water but my air pump broke so now I'm using a water pump to flume the water instead. Because the tabs are organic, you're not feeding your plants at all. The Bactrex and Startrex contain bacteria that break down the rest of the ingredients except mycotrex. It's the waste from the bacteria that feed the plant and the mycotrex protect the roots and aid in nutrient transfer. The whole thing just works so long as you keep the bacteria alive.

There's no need to use bactrex every 2 week either. I use it at the start as the chart in the kit says and then at week 5 and that's it.

This is my current grow using nothing but Biotabs Starter Kit. It's actually my first time using them in soil because my coco got stuck in the post when lockdown hit here in spain. Not bad for 5 weeks old eh :)

Thanks. Your images have nice looking plants. I think I am on a different biotabs guide than you use. I do not have orgatrex and use sicilium flash instead of orgatrex in the just add tap water guide https://biotabs.nl/pdfs/organic-growing-manual-en.pdf and the guide recommended bactrex 1 time every 2 weeks on there.
