Hey Guys,
This is a cheap way to check your PH using red cabbage.
I took this from a turtle fanboy website.
Step1:
Take a piece of red cabbage and cut it down to small pieces.
Step2:
Put the pieces in a cup or mug, poor boiling water on top. Grab yourself a spoon and press the red cabbage firmly to the bottom of your cup. Keep stirring at the same time. Repeat this until the water turns dark-blue or purple.
Now you've made your red-cabbage-soup, it should look like this:
To start measuring your PH-values, you should take about one tablespoon of juice and put it in a see-through (glass) container. And add about 8 drops of the water you'd like to measure. Based on the PH, your water should start colouring.
To see what colour your PH matches with the value, here's a chart with different values:
Tests by the original writer:
Vinegar (PH: 2):
I don't know if you English talking guys know what this is: Spiritus (some call it spirits) (PH: 5)
*Note: This isn't a very accurate test, but it's cheap! About a dollar for 20 Litres of PH-solution which you can keep up to 3 weeks inside your fridge. And I like cheap solutions. Oh, and it's organic. No chemicals needed.
