Rather than flushing, is it advisable to begin dialing back the total amount of nutes given for the last few weeks of flowering so that any nutrients that are stored in the plant get used up?

My 2 cents...
I've seldom specifically flushed my finishing plants as I'm one who grows in small pots of biobizz light mix and use maybe 1/4 to 1/2 strength nutes during bloom...simply feeding as the plant needs...
That being said, I only grow for my medical use and healthy plants.
My finished/cured nuggs burn smooth and ash is white/gray as an indicator I'm doing something close to right.
If you have several plants, pick some to do one way, a few another, and see which tastes/burn better...

Thanks for the reply. I only have one plant so I'll be unable to conduct any tests.

I don't dial back but I stop watering a week or two before harvest. Force your plants into senescence.

Most of the time I run nutes to harvest. I don't believe in the notion that one needs to flush near end of grow. Certainly others believe in flushing. I never saw a difference to compel me to flush.

So, you run full strength all the way to the end?

Personally I never run full strength nutes. Autoflowers are notorious for burning easily. Normally I don't use more than half strength nutes. It's a good idea to start with 1/4 of the published amount until you see where it takes the plant.

I didn't mean full strength in regards to the manufacturer's suggestion, I meant full strength in regards to what your max strength is.
