Hi im doing my first grow ever, im growing 2 3week old gorilla glues in 20litre pots and 1 3week old northern light all grown in coco/perlite mix. Under a 600w led the question is since week 1 everytime i watered i saturated the pot 80% and from week 2 onwards ive saturated the pot fully, i just wanted to know if i have made a huge mistake or if it is going to afect strong root growth or yield they do look healthy at the moment but just want to know if this will afect them in the long run

You don’t want to overwater them while they are still young and trying to establish their roots. I usually will just feed with smaller amounts for the first 3 weeks. Try and water in a circle near the outer edges of the pot, this will encourage the roots to stretch out. After that I will usually shoot for 10-15% runoff each time I fertigate (which will usually be every other/every day by this stage). Pick up the pots and feel how heavy they are, easy way to judge if they need a soaking or not.

Would you say ive ruined them then as ive been fully watering the pots since. seedlings (3weeks) or are they redeemable?

First thing first next grow fill pots with soil clear to the top. With seedlings they don’t need a lot of water early on u can water just not a lot and as said water to the outside of the leaves to get the roots to stretch and search. Also use a good potting soil I use promix. Autos don’t need a lot of Nutes if you have good soil to start with.

If they still look healthy, I would say you have not ruined them at all, just set root development back.

I don't have any experience growing in coco, so I couldn't tell you the long term implications, but I suspect that it will just be a reduced yield. I would keep going.

I wonder if you could just let the pot dry out and do a few quick waterings from the bottom so that the full media does not get wet. I think that this might encourage more root development. Just a guess though.

I would leave them for a bit but keep checking weight of pots. It doesn't hurt to not water all the time. Let the plant have to work for it! It's like everything...if we spoil them and make things to easy, ( in my opinion) they get weak
That's their nature... everything's nature is to Survive. Good luck and keep it up.

You’ll be fine, best way to learn is to keep them going. Don’t let the pot dry out completely, coco doesn’t like to go dry. That said, pick up the pot after you feed it and remember how heavy it feels. Now check back every 24hrs until you notice it becoming lighter when you grab it. Each plants different for feeding, some of mine dry out each day, and some will go 2-3 days before needing more. When you do feed, aim for 10-15% runoff out the bottom of the pot, and always use nutes, never just plain water. Keep your ph around 5.7-5.9 and you should be good to go!
