Blackberry autos, unknown origin. Basic hydro in a pail with bubbler. These plants have become pretty dense. Thoughts on taking the trimmers to them?

sry bout the pics. I’m new to this. Also this is wk 7

you running HID I'm assuming?I would clean up the center a bit for airflow but otherwise she looks great and probably doesn't need too much choppy yet

Hi bud , welcome. I’m also in week 7 with one heck of a bush, I choose not to defol unless there dying leaves only. Personally if you are gonna defol then I wouldnt recommend it all in one go. Just start taking a small handful of lower leaves every other day to start with. Here’s my zkittlez week 7 and 1 day

Thanks. I’m Running 100w hlg leds One each.

okay most definitely thin out the middle and lower growth, LED doesn't have a lot of penetration beyond the first couple inches of the canopy. if you leave it all thick it will impede airflow too and create a safe space for mold, pests, diseases and other nasties u don't want.

Can you spread it out instead of pruning?

I don't think you need to prune anything as far as defoliation but you could trim the lowers a bit. You do need to make sure you have adequate air flow to minimize the risk of mold but keeping your temperature and humidity constant is a larger help. Large, 15+ swings in either direction can cause mold.

You could defoliate but that is removing your solar panels and adding unnecessary stress. Trimming afew inches from the bottom up where larfy weed will grow anyway would be the extent of it for me. Also your past the stretch, I think you could super crop branches out of the way but I don't think you need to do anything else at this point.

Thanks. I’m mostly concerned with mold etc. my dehu can’t seem to hold it steady and it’s getting big swings so I’m erring on the dryer end of things at the moment. I’m definitely going to thin up the lower but I don’t want set it back too much or shock it.
