Indoor dead space at the top of my tent...????

Hey dudes, i have a question.
I have allot of dead space at the top of my tent and im thinking about grabbing some maylar and putting up a kind of horizontal screen, i can cut out holes that are required i.e chains. ducting.
The thinking behind this is to reflect all the light that i can see up there back down to where its needed.
I use a 250hps and also a blue 125 clf to flower. with my tent size being 2ft x2ft x 5ft would you say its worth lowering the hight by using a maylar false celing meaning less cubic feet for my lights to bounce around in..
What ya think ??
 
I've never heard of anyone doing that but don't see where it would hurt. If you lights have hoods they should already be reflecting most of the light downward.
 
i agree with muddy the hoods will reflect most of the light down. If you put a conopy to lower the hight then you need room for your dirty air to pass throught to ur fillter only my :2cents:
 
Yeah i also agree with muddy, my reflector pretty much covers all that area inside. Im just after utilising as much of that light as poss. As for the dirty air. I am going to cut out a 4 inch hole through the maylar to extract from the " false celing hight ".
As i said the maylar isnt gaffer tapped into place sealing it tight. I just cut 4 hole in the corners and slide it through the poles and chains.
Not to sure if i have this right but with a 250watt hps and a 125clf blue i have a combined lumuns of around 44,000 and in a tent of 5 foot high and 2 foot wide gives me 10 cubic feet meaning im working with around 4,000 lumuns per square foot ?
The aim in lowering the celing is to gain more lumuns by decreesing the cubic foot.
 
It's lumens per square foot, not cubic foot, that matters.
 
Oh right, well the false canopy didnt last long. My new extraction fan sucked it up to much and temps below began to rise.
I took it out and now i have a day time temp of 26-27 and night temp of 20-21. With the light around 9 inches away.
All 4 plants are deffo having there stretch. Every morning i look its visable.
It would seem that everything so far is going very well. Im putting this down to me using grow and alg-a-mag well into flower, my bio bizz light mix needs it and before i used to cut it out as soon as i see the sex. This time tho i found a bio bizz light soip feed chart. The differnce is HUGE !
 
I hadn't considered the effect on the heat but that makes perfect sense. You gave it a try and now you know.

BioBizz light mix is a soil less medium so contains little, if any nutrients. So you do have to feed throughout the whole grow. You should be feeding veg nutes through week 6, then changing over to bloom nutes for the best results.
 
Im at the start of week 5 and ive just upped the dose:
4ml bio grow
4ml bio bloom
3ml bio bizz alg-a-mag
2ml bio bizz top max
They were on 3ml of each grow and bloom before,
Still no signs of burn so ill keep to this for a week then consider my next move. i am considering using a lil pk13/14 at around 3 weeks before the chop.
Kinda doing my own thing and following what others have done but ive red allot of mixed reviews on that product in soil.
Whats your thoughts ? Or anyones for that matter lol

its a case of trail and error im using light mix and you do have to control all the nute micro nutes for your lady as its so plain ill check in again soon see how your going mate :peace:
 
Nice one si1984, i like the idea that im more in control of what they need as its good practise.
all seems well so far and no sign of yellowing this time scince through grow nuts into flowering and also alg a mag and top max.
Ill throw up some more pics from time to time if i feel summit is up dude
