Day 6, leaves pointing straight up

Hey Guys,

I've been lurking this great sight for quite some time now and learned a great deal. I've tried, with no luck, to search for an answer so I thought I'd ask you guys.

My problem is as the title suggests. The seed germinted without issue and was going great for the first few days, with visible growth every day for the first 3 days. Day 4 saw no growth at all and by the end of day 5 her first set of true leaves were pointing up, as if she was trying to close. I checked again this morning before the light kicked in and she was normal again. 13 hours later(now) the leaves are pointing up again. She looks healthy enough, nice colour, no markings etc.

My setup is as follows:
Seed- Northern Lights Auto
Light- 130w 6400k cfl on an 18/6 sched
Soil- 70/30 mix of generic potting mix/vermiculite
This is in a small cupboard 400mm x 600mm x 900mm (sorry for the metric)
I also have a small fan blowing when the light is on.

I know it's kinda hard without a pic, I'm working on it.

Anyway, from this description does it sound like I have anything to worry about?

Thanks in advance,

Rooker

Probably just a genetic anomaly with your strain if they're not showing any other problems. Mine tend to point up when they're in the lights sweet spot, it almost looks like the plant is reaching up in orgasm :D That could also be it.

Nothing to worry about and i always take it as a sign of health. unhealthy plants droop, fold or curl the tips of their leaves. I noticed the other day on some at 6/7 weeks that they are still doing it but the leaves have like 9 or 11 fingers so when it is doing this each leave actually turns itself into a little satellite dish reflecting light back into the bud. In your case it is focusing the light right into the growing tip of the seedling.

Sounds to me like a plant reaching towards the light. All plants tend to reach for the light source. If the light source is too far away, it can cause the plant to stretch, towards the light.

Thanks for easing my mind guys.

I've been away for a few days and when I got back there was actually a little browning of the tips. The soil level is a bit low in the pot and I suspect things were getting a little hot in there. I've dropped the plant a few inches away from the light (now about 4" away) and it's responded great.

Thanks again

Rooker. You will need a camera for sure. Simple to upload with USB connection. Re-size and strip the metadata if any (normally after resizing your photo software, if not, associated with the camera will ask about retaining metadata in a check box). Excuse me--you may know far more than I do and, if so, I apologize for the detail. Post xmas sales and you can get a great deal. I am going to upgrade also--maybe even tomorrow--with a camera for dummies. Very important in this forum for the pros to see what is happening and as your plant grows its health will seemingly bounce all around. You will have peace of mind just downloading a quick pic and the diagnosticians will be on it. cg :2cents:

I have seven of the happiest girls you ever saw, right now. When conditions (temps, RH, etc,) are almost perfect, they reach for the sky. Are you buffering your pH?
