Harvest & Curing Curing dilemma?

Hi guys my plant is currently drying in wedryer I expect it will be ready for jarring up this evening or tomorrow afternoon at the latest. The thing is I am going away for 2 days from Friday morning to Sunday evening next week which would mean I would have to leave jar without being burped for 2.5 days 5 days into the curing process is there any way that this could work with the use of a Boveda pack 62% maybe? The buds are airy enough not super dense for the most part.

I do have the option of getting my brother to come over to my house to burp the jar on the Saturday but would rather not have to ask unless completely necessary.

Cheers man I was thinking they should be alright I will be home all week so can burp a couple times a day for the week. Just needed some reassurance

Do you know anyone who has done similar to this so early into the curing process?

them little hygrometers are the business very accurate and all 3 I have the reading are almost identical

Lots of others here know a lot more than I do on this, but I had a situation similar to yours - curing just started, and a need to leave home, in my case for more than a month.

I put the curing jars in the freezer, and continued where I left off when I got back. Worked fine as far as I or a stoner friend of mine could tell. In his words, "smells great. tastes great, and kicks ass". I let the jars warm up before disturbing the buds, and took the buds out of the jars for a while to make sure that the buds were dry enough to continue curing. The buds got three or four days of drying before freezing, but they were nowhere near down to 65%RH yet.

I agree that the little hygrometers are the bee's knees. All five of the ones I used are more or less identical in their readings. Very handy to say the least. Ditto for the Boveda 62% packs once the buds are staying less than ~65%.

Well logic tells me that if I have them in the jar 4-5 days and they are pretty dry by Friday 2.5 days in a jar with boveda keeping humidity stable should cause no issues, well I hope not anyway

I think you should be fine, just check the RH when you get back, and adjust accordingly. Bovedas are better at adding water than at removing it, so you may find that your RH is a bit higher than you expect when you get back.

Great stuff thanks man well I’m lucky enough to live where Its not stupid hot and humid so at least that hope it doesn’t end up ruining my precious first harvest will keep fingers crossed. Will actually be leaving the jar 3 days will be away Thursday afternoon and back Sunday afternoon.

Would it be better to put all buds in larger jar instead of into smaller jars? My thinking would be more space in larger jars means they are not so stuck together?

Great stuff thanks man well I’m lucky enough to live where Its not stupid hot and humid so at least that hope it doesn’t end up ruining my precious first harvest will keep fingers crossed. Will actually be leaving the jar 3 days will be away Thursday afternoon and back Sunday afternoon.

Dunno. I think the results in the jar, big or small, is going to depend on how moist the bud is when you have to leave. If it is excessively moist, the risk of mould will be higher in any jar. If you have the small hygrometers, I suggest seeing how the RH looks when you need to leave, and make your decision on that basis. If it is still too high (my seat of the pants guess would be >70% or so), I would be inclined to throw them in the freezer. Freezing them once they are at least started curing will not hurt the buds in the slightest if my experience is any indication, but mould could wreck the whole crop.
