Hey all :toke:, right now Im assembling all of the materials for a soil grow, but I also was researching hydroponic methods as well and had a few questions about both methods concerning autoflowers since I was to start with something easy and then turn growing into a craft once I am able to grow more plants. Right now I am going to grow 1 maybe 2 plants max!

Here's what I am working with:
A 3 ft growing cabinet with a carbon filter, fan, cfl lights, etc
Salamander Soil Mix from FoxFarm
Big bloom, Tiger Bloom and Grow Big for my nutes
pH up and down for controlling ph
3 gallon fabric pots

So here are my questions:

1. So I bought the FoxFarm Salamander Soil for my plants, would I need any other additives or would I be okay with just that starting out?
2. Is the pH for this soil usually okay or would I need to adjust it before I begin planting?
2. With controlling the ph on my water for the plant would it just be best to have sort of a water reserve and mess with that? Or would I need to mess with the ph each time to get it into that 6-6.5 range every time I water?
3. How big is humidity when it comes to autos? Ive read that either putting a cup of salt or a cup of water in the small grow room/cabinet would be sufficient to lower or raise the humidity, respectively.
4. Ive heard that about 2 weeks out from harvest I need to begin to "cleanse" my plant with just watering it with ph adjusted water and nothing else, do I need to do it any sooner or later?

2 weeks is good for only water :D but as far as i read your set to go :D just get some trays for the pots :D but still im a newbie myself :D and u can control humidoty with rice also :D i dont ph my water since i dont have the $ for a proper ph meter :D

Two and a half years ago I was at the same point you are today along with the Fox Farms products.
Today I grow some excellent bud but I am also learning with every plant I grow.
First of all a marijuana plant will grow in the crack of your driveway or anywhere else it can get sun and water. It is a weed.
But, what I read is you want to develop this into a craft, just like brewing beer eh?
I will now give you my 2 cents worth of advice. As you read this forum take time to read anything and everything that is posted by
Muddy or Mossy. Excellent teachers. There are several others on this site that deserve recognition but I will thank you all too.
I am now an organic grower that feeds the soil and hopes like hell the plant loves what I do so it gives me the sweetness I seek.
You can grow weed with Fox Farm nutes but I'd rather grow "craft bud" without the chemical residue left behind (salts).
Start with the FF nute program but I bet you will evolve into a organic soil grower. Fox Farms Big Bloom is organic and I have used it.
My recommendation is to build your own soil mix and let it cook while your growing a batch with FF nutes. All the information you need to
do this is on this site or use the Google. Definitely I recommend using a PH meter. You have built a beautiful soil so feed it with the proper
PH'd water (I add molasses also) and take care of the soil. The plant will uptake the organic nutrients in the proper fashion and you
won't be on this site asking for help because your plants are spotted, yellowed or crispy brown. Everything is important to grow premium bud.
It is not hard but you need to pay attention to detail to achieve the best results. Remember anyone can grow weed but not everyone can grow premium bud.
So one more time. Read, read and then read some more. It is amazing what can be gleaned from this site. People here want you to be successful.
It would take a few hours for me to explain where I started and where I am now and not to mention a few disasters in growing. Good luck and
keep reading and asking questions. Break down your gown...lighting.....soil/hydro.....environment.....etc. You may find you don't need everything you already have and what you don't have that you could use for a specific part of the grow. Hope I have contributed positively to your grow.

You can get cheap ph testing drops or strips from a fish aquarium store if your grow store doesn't carry them.

Your on the right track bro. Dont over think your grow less is more with autos. I was a outdoor photo plant grower and on my first auto grow. Things are going well. But 3ft is not alot of room bro you have to lst alot to be able to keep them short and wide. My 40 day old nyc d is 40 inchs tall and over 3 feet wide. Autos if you have a green thumb will match a photo plant in height and yeild. Try a low rider strain or white widow they are great for new growers. Very hard to hurt.

Biggest advice I could give that I learned from my first grow, let the plant do it's thing, try to hold the excitement back and not try to move branches all around multiple times a day, or touch the buds lol. Also, with the fox farm, you won't need hardly any grow big, you'll want to wait about 2 weeks after you see flowers to start tiger bloom, and go very slow on this, it's very hot and easy to burn leaves, I start with about 1/8 the recommended dose, and work up from there, every other feed. With a 3 foot ceiling I wouldn't use more than a 2 gallon pot.
Good luck bro, tons of info on this site to help you along, post your grow journal so people can help when you need it.

Good advice I should have went smaller on my buckets they are like 7 gallons. Hopefully yeild is in the 200 gram range for 2 plants. 600 watt hps.
