little bit of background first: my original tent is running a growers choice 630ns light fixture with their 10% lumen boost and a 3kr 315w bulb + a 4k 315w bulb, 24 hours on. that original tent i can germinate to flower underneath the hood, directly, with no issues what so ever. I run coco tupur- botanicare cal mag plus 5ml a gallon, megacrop 4g a gallon and slf100, 5.8 ph. the original tent takes these feeds and light levels no issues whatsoever even within the first 2-3 weeks of seedling phase.. plants get as close as 8 inches to the hood in flower with no light stress symptoms AT ALL.
My plants in that tent were outgrowing the hood in height so i purchased an identical, growers choice 630ns CMH hood. I took those plants under the original hood and moved them to the new hood and they crashed within a week. Growers choice insisted it was light stress and environment combo’d with lockout.I have restarted 5 more grows since then under that CMH all with similar results. a plant in full on flower going from one CMH to a CMH that is only 2 months newer- experiencing light stress on the base wattage, not even super lumen? yea right!! i doubted that from the get go. I've lost 3 Dr krippling autos, 1 annajane auto, 4 rocbud autos, 1 nightowl, now 2 seedsman, 1 mephisto plants underneath this hood due to them crashing. 12 plants. it's fucked up and should not be happening. i can pull auto after auto in my good tent with 8oz+ without batting an eye.
I purchased a tent, ac infinty all to dial in a new environment exactly as my orignial tent. I removed one bulb and ran only 315w, outside of a tent until the tent came with new plants and they looked slightly light stressed but nothing to this extent. when it arrived i threw it in there with 1 bulb at full power. after a little bit of light stress on leaves i cut back bad looking leaves and new growth came up looking good. i decided hitting preflower to add the 2nd 315w bulb and lowered the wattage to 480w instead of 630w- following growers choice reccomendations.. they continue to do worse and worse. I lowered the light schedule from 24 hours on like I normally do in my good tent to 18 hours on over a week. still no improvements.Attached on imgur are a few photos of the latest plants and what they have done over 3 days under both bulbs dimmed down to 480W from 630w. the first photo should be a photo of a plant started in my good tent with 10% lumen boost, started from seed with no issues whatsoever.
as visible in the photos, leaves become severely waxy and taco up slightly. new growth has come out better now but still pretty waxy and glossy in spots. I cut back nutes recently to 4ml a gallon of calmag plus and 2g of megacrop/gal. the darker growth is lightening up slightly, thinking there might have been a bit of N tox? i believe initial feeds were about 800 ppm, i reduced that to 500 ppm. another thing I noticed are pistils turning brown already and the plants are still in preflower. I noticed this with my original plants that were in full on flower that got transitioned, their pistils turned brown nearly immediately and they stopped or stalled nearly all flower development.
I have posted on overgrown, reddit and on my personal IG page all with no conclusion as to what the issue is along with over 2 dozen emails corresponding with growers choice general manager Michael. he would love to say it's environmental/nutrient based along with light stress. I struggle to wrap my brain around this as I have the identical model hood performing perfectly in my good tent. It has been suggested to 1) swap fixtures completely with both tents 2) swap bulbs with tents. Both of which is plant genocide for my good tent which flowers impeccably.
