hi all just a query how do you get your ladies to stop stretching and how to get closer nodes thanks all

hi all just a query how do you get your ladies to stop stretching and how to get closer nodes thanks all

How far away are your lights bro, what stage of development are you at and what type of light are you using? :peace:

to be honest mate was just summat that been playing on my mind but saying that a couple of the critical have stretched and the light im using is 600 duel spec and im on 36 days on the other 3 and the lights couldnt be no more than a foot away the other 3 that are the same under 600 and in soil and are 47 days have stopped growing now it baffles me ha

sounds like you no worries mate. Autos go into a flurry of growth just after preflower. Puttn' on up to 75% height and foliage in just a few weeks. Amazing indeed.

thanks cdc but how can you get closer nodes or is that just genetics of the lady your growing

If you got your light as close as possible, i would say genetics. There are whys to keep them tighter, but any whys i could think of would involve slowing the plants overall growth. not really the things you would want to do with your autos. If you are worried about height, LST has to be the best option for a unruly lady.

Giving less phosphorus will cause a plant to stretch less, too. Especially under less than optimal light conditions.

Hi Green1 - It is generally believed that light at the blue-green end of the spectrum enhances seedling/cutting and vegetative growth. It tends to make for hardier more robust vegetative growth patterns - plants with short internode spacing ie strong stocky plants. On the other hand, light at the orange-red end tends to trigger flowering and leads to softer more spindly vegetative growth. This is why dual spectrum lamps are considered by some to be most effective for autos

I think there could be some truth in that since some genotypes possess relatively large quanties of 'Gibberellins' in the zygote of their seed. These are noted as the most powerful of the growth promotors because they, increase internode spacing, induce and promote flowering in many plants, and modify flower sex expression.

1" node spacing seems to be the best for autos. Their vertical growth will continue through about the 1st 6 weeks, often getting as much as 1" per day, especially in weeks 4-6. Then the vertical growth pretty much stops and their energy goes into producing buds. Easiest way to control node spacing is by raising or lowering your light accordingly to maintain that 1" spacing.

Agreed - 1'' spacing certainly makes them less susceptible to bud rot since air is free to circulate through the colas; for those who cannot control the height of your lamps easily you could conversely alter the height of the container using bricks or other suitable supports - removing them as the plants increase in height
