I have aquired some partly organic fert and it has rice husks, chicken shit and peat. If I make a tea for my plants do I really need to aerate it or can I just let it sit for a few hours and pour that shit on?

Hey maximus, the aerating gets the microorganisms and bacteria in the tea going so that they can work with the micro organisms and bacteria in your soil. You can use it quicker, it just won't be "finished". The chicken poo will still provide nutrients. (Don't ever use fresh chicken Guano! It's too hot! Make sure it's composted.) I wouldn't let it just "sit" for a few hours, you should at least stir or shake it once in a while. You don't want it turning bad on you.

So I can just mix it with water and it's fine? Do I use hot or cold water? Do I strain it and just use the liquid? How much per Gallon?

I see you're using a shit load of shit for your grow!

Thanks for your help

I see your plants are 10 and 7 days old, so you might want to keep it light with the mix. I personally got lucky with my combinations and didn't have any pH or lock out issues. My soil started at 5.5 pH and I use distilled water that is always around 6.4 after mixing up whatever looks tasty on any given day.

Just use your water at room temp. When feeding, try to get the temps of your mix as close to the temps of your roots as possible. Too cold and you'll shock them and she won't drink up for a while. just like the pores in your skin close when it's cold...

What I'd do sometimes is strain the mix before feeding and work the "leftovers" into the top layer of soil, then fed. Not every time, but often.

The way you describe it, you bought this mixture somewhere. Is that right? Does it have any instructions on the package? If it does, start with about a quarter of what they recommend. Less is more right now for your plants, and it's easier to build up your plan than deal with the problems you might cause from over doing it.

Make sure you check your pH after mixing and adjust with the lemon juice or baking soda. (Molasses also brings down ph)

Cheers, I wasn't going to give them the tea yet because I have a suspected nute burn with the soil I'm using. I was thinking of flushing the soil(is that the right thing to do with nute burn?) and then in a couple of weeks making the tea.

Yes I bought the mixture and it does have instructions so I will take your advice when the time comes.

Best way to do chicken manure tea is to hang a mesh basket or cheese cloth loaded with the poo into a large vessel of water . Stir up the water or use an air stone . Let it sit for awhile ( I like prepping mine 1 week ahead ) . If the poo smells , it's not ready . I avoid using chicken manure teas during bloom cycle because of the high nitrogen content , but it's great for veg phase .

But the veg stage is so short with with autos. Do you think coz i'm growing in 3 gallon pots then they won't even need any supplements because they have enough nutrients from the soil in the pot.
