High Everyone !
This seems weird to me. On 12-10 I planted a Heavyweight Seeds Wipeout Express using a 600 watt Meizhi LED about 30" from the pot. 5 days later it popped up & grew about 1" - 1.5" and then just stayed at that height. It grew a couple sets of leaves but didn't grow taller. I was going to throw the plant out because it just wasn't doing anything & I needed to use my 2nd tent to flower 1 of my 2 photo period grows because they got too big to keep both plants in 1 tent.
Then I thought to myself the Wipeout Express is not dying so I might as well stick it in the closet under my T-5 & see what happens. This was just 2 days ago. I'll be damned if it didn't start growing taller. It has gained at least another inch in height in just 2 days. I surely did not expect this to happen; but it did.
I also tried growing 2 Pyramid seeds White Widow's under the LED & 1 never popped & the other popped & died within 2 days.
I'm not sure but I'm thinking the LED was just too intense to start with. I'll be starting my next Auto's under the T-5 to confirm my theory on this. I will switch back to LED after the plants get 5" - 6" tall as I know the T-5 will not produce as much yield during flower. But never the less it seems to be working better for starting the plants out.
I'd like to know what you guys think. Could the LED have been too much to start out with ?
It was a 600 watt Meizhi Reflector series in a 2' x 4' x 6' tent.

I doubt the issue is the light being to much... you may be seeing some stretch due to low light from the t5s now.

Is this an auto? Have seen a lot of issues getting HW autos to go. I went thru a pack of 10 all were either no pop, or stalled after peeking out.
I've grown for quite a while, and haven't had this issue with other breeders. HW photos, I haven't had an issue with either. Have a monster HW girl now.

Yes, it's an Auto. Been a PITA to get it growing.
Search heavyweight on the forum there have been several that have had issues. Might be someone had a solution, I moved on... too many good beans to pop to stop and wait for an issue to be corrected.

I have auto seeds from about 10 different breeders so I hope to find a good one eventually. When I do I'll stick with that one. Maybe I should just plant 1 of each & see what works out. Knowing my luck they'll all pop & I'll have too many for my tents. Seems like photo's are much easier to grow as I've never had a problem with them other then adding too many nutes when I 1st started growing. But I pretty much have that down now so no problems at all my last 4 grows. This is my 1st experience with auto's so I kind of expected a few issues. Just not 3 seeds in a row. Everyone was raving about Bio-Bizz soil so that's what I've been trying to grow auto's in. I'm going to mix that 50-50 with Happy Frog & throw another WW seed in & see what happens just for the hell of it. I figure it's not going to grow in the Bio-Bizz anyway so no big deal if nothing happens.
I will do a search on the HW seeds to see what others say. The WW are Pyramid Seeds Auto & they did even worse than the HW seeds. I do have some Dutch Passion Seeds & I hear they are a good breeder so maybe I'll have good luck with them.

Good luck my man. I'll gladly vouch for mephisto beans. Can't go wrong there. Have always wanted some Dutch passion. Seen some KILLER grows on here.

Some solid advice when shopping autos.

Check the vendor forums here. See what's hot what's new and what's tried and true.
Short stuff seeds is great stuffs too

Feel free to ask anytime you are shopping
Plenty of info to grow around

What Ash said.

If I hadn't given Mephisto a shot I would be back growing photos & talking shite about auto growers... there's several good breeders out there. And several not so scrupulous ones.

Ive found Autos are not the easier plant to grow. From Day 1 you are on a schedule. Much less room for error with autos. A fine product can be had, just a smoother, maybe more subtle touchis needed...and I like having the room open all the time. 12 /12 sucks.

Just my opinion.... I have 2 grows under a 900w meizhi in a 3x3... grow the babies with the meizhi at the very top of the tent at least 45 inches high. Or T5 or cfls for first 6 inches of growth then meizhi way up at at 45 inches or so...the light is intense.. this is a assuming other grow conditions are correct especially not overwatering etc.

Like I said, my 1st time trying out auto's. When I bought the seeds I had no idea that some breeders seeds were better than others. I just jumped the gun without researching seeds first .... Duh ... Stupid Me. I was too anxious to get growing. These are some of the Auto seeds I have : Pyramid Seeds White Widow (I think are Donkey Dung myself), Heavyweight Seeds Wipeout Express & 2 Vast 2 Fast ( Not real sure about because it's growing since I changed lighting), Fast Buds Gorilla Glue, Sensible Seeds Girl Scout Cookies, Seed Stockers BCN Critical XXL & Big Bud, Dutch Passion Critical Orange Punch & Auto Extreme. Are any of these good breeders ? I also have Feminized Seeds : Heavyweight Midnight Mass & Diesel Drift, Sweet Seeds Gorilla Girl, Herbies Seeds Gorilla Glue & Afghan Kush, Unknown Breeder (seeds were given to me) Fire OG & Pie Face which I have growing now & I know they are good as those plants are giants & it's my 2nd grow with them. I just love the Fire OG. Killer High & such a Smooth, Sweet Taste. If you know if any of my Auto Seeds come from Good Breeders then please ... do tell. I'll try them next. I just bought a variety of what sounded good to me at the time so I could try different strains out. My main concern was THC content & Indica Dominant when I was searching seeds. Never even gave Breeders a thought. Seems I always learn the hard way.
I've also been trying to follow Auto-Beasts thread on "How to Grow a Perfect Auto Start to Finish" somewhat. That's why I bought the Bio-Bizz soil. I usually grow in 50% Ocean Forrest & 50% Happy Frog mixed for my photo grows so Bio-Bizz is new to me. I also use all General Hydroponics nutrients :
Micro, Grow, Bloom, Rapid Start, Floralicious Plus,Liquid Kool Bloom, Armor Si, Diamond Nectar, Flora Blend, Cali-Magic & Flora Nectar throughout my grow. Not sure if these are so good for Auto's but they work great on photo's.
So I pretty much have been using the soil & water / feed schedule in his post but have been using the nutes I have since I have Full Qts. of Everything.
Any suggestions for my next grow would be quite helpful & please point out anything you see that I'm not doing right.
I'll get this Auto thing down if it kills me !!!
