Hey guys, so I really screwed up my first auto, i used MG soil and i have 2 cfls, no idea of the kelvin the output, the cfls are from wal mart and say they are a 100w equivilent

So what i want to do is use a mix of one 6500k and one 2700k for veg (cant let it get too tall) then switch to two 2700k's for flower, is that ok? i want more bud and less plant as i only have about 2 1/2 ft vertical and 4 foot horizontal space to work with

2 more questions:
when it says for example 100w equivalent, should i treat that as a bulb that is actually giving off 100w of light or what

also how much wattage should i have between the two bulbs?

be easy here, im a newbie to indoors and i have read your guides, and honestly im taking in so much between learning a good soil mix to figuring out bulb placement and lumens and everything, its a bit overwhelming for a former outdoor sativa grower lol

if anyone wants to see how bad i screwed up with my first here you go :p

I know my mistakes for this were one, i watered the mg too much and released too many nutes, i didnt have any circulation and the container was basically air tight, and i didnt do enough research on the lights, i thought 200 watts (2 100w cfls) would be fine, but i plan to move this lady into a small cup and let her finish her sad little life (last pic is 3 weeks old) and start a new one once i get my research together

dont sweat it bro. learn from your mistakes and move on.

just make sure to buy better soil next time + add drainage to those pots as well.

- you should be fine with mix spectrum - the auto will flower and move on regardless.
- 100w equivalent is not what you want to look at. check out ACTUAL WATTAGE (im guessing it says 23w on yours)

check this thread out by the cfl master: light and easy basic CFL info

yeah it was something like 20w with 100w equivalent, i thought that just meant it took up the same amout of power as a normal 20w bulb lol, so i need to look at the actual wattage then, ok got it
and i did look at that thread , thats how i came up with the 2700/6500 mix im gonna do, but he dosent talk too much about wattage, and everywhere else i go gets so into detail that i begin to compleetly lose what the point of what they are saying is, makes me feel really dumb but im trying my best to learn before i start a new seed haha, im just trying to figure out a good range of watts for one plant and i end up being lost in lumens, kelvins, and all that other crap haha

I really can't make an opinion other than that there is something wrong. Over nuteing is always a big probem. I don't nute plants that young. I wait until they get well established. I also mist young plants and put a baggie over them for about half a day and make sure the baggie is on during the dark period. Lights-I can't say enough about lights and reflected{free light} light. Good luck

I am sorry about your bad news. Follow Herbal's sound advice.. And, if you dont fuck up your first auto, you are lucky.. Welcome to the club!

The first grow is usually a semi or full disaster and if anyone want to get their grow right the first time they need a lot of work, and and even then the first grow can go wrong. So learn from this and move on, and I bet the next grow will go way way better!
From those pictures it definalty looks like the nute burn/ overwatering but not the light issue! Autoflowers can grow with those two CFL's but they probably wont be no were near their maximum potential.

Hi Joint I am on first grow and did alot of research (like a year) before my first grow and so far I have awesome results. !st since ya grow area is small you should consider auto flower such as lowryder2 auto...IMO (done in 3
months and easy to grow. 2nd soil (start with Happy Frog) then transplant very carefully after 3 weeks into bucket with Fox farms Ocean Forest soil....it consist of bat Guano and all the good stuff a little lady needs to grow. #rd.....use CFLs 6500 to veg for first few weeks until she starts to flower (she will flower fast considering she is a autoo flower (GO TO HERBIES SEEDS) and check out auto flower seeds...best way to grow :) 4th! <<move lady after few weeks to 6500 k CFLs ...you were on the right track but you need at least six to eight bulbs .....and keep them no less than 2 inches away from plant Bruh! NOTE: Do not use aluminum foil to line your grow ! You can but 3M tape or so at Lowes if need. make sure you have good ventilation/ exhaust and a good fan or a few PC fans for air circulation! Let me know if you need any help with questions and good luck to you ! Passing Good Carma ya way BRUH!

In my experience any transplanting will diminish yields, as the plant gets some stress and losses a day or two of its growth, but I guess if the transplanting is done REALLY carefully then it wount affect the plant as much..

hey man I use mg soil. I found that if you spend a little time and sift out as many of those little nute balls as you can would be benificial. Somtimes you have to learn to use what you have access to and I only have access to mg soil or shultz pottin mix. For the first three to four weeks just use water and water only when soil is dry about half a finger down 2 inches or so then you shouldnt end up with over nute problems. I have those wally world bulbs also just look on the side of the bulb by the screw end and the bulb info is written there telling you what exact wattage and kelvin they are. For one plant start with two of those 23 watt bulbs keeping them around 2-3 inches above the top of plant and use a fan to blow between the lights and the canopy. Add bulbs as the plant gets bigger and I highly recomend topping or using a lst on the plant and that will help get more light to the overall plant ending up with a better yeild. Well there you have it as basic as it can get to start you off. Just dont overwater and you should be off to a good start. Ive been growin with mg soil and Cfl's for the past 2 years and end up with at least 1 & 1/2 ounces minimum off of each plant with a total of 6 plants at a time and with a good flush ending up with some really stinky, tight, sticky crystal covered bud. Oh ya I also stick to mainly indicas that may be why im ending up with success. have fun and good luck
