Hey everybody

I just started growing my own, using CFL
There are plenty of you out there using these kind of lights all with different results.

Now i like to challenge all of you to put in your experience and decide once and for all...
how to use those watts to the max potential!!!

first some guidelines for the reports
( I suggest )
mention following details for a usefull comparison

- your total wattage
- number of bulbs
- type of bulb (spiral, 5u, 8u)
- spectrum of bulbs

- room temp and RH
- room size
- ventilation setup
- space between bulbs and plants
- orientation of bulbs (vertical, horizontal, all over the place or in between...please explain)

- photo of room showing light placement

- genetics
- pot size
- soil and nutes
- plant shape (size, training used?)
- final yield... dry please
And of course some lovely budporn would be nice

Lets hope we see some nice grows here.
Maybe this line up results in conclusions we all benefit from.

Best off luck,
may the best setup win

Buddy

OK, lets get going!

ill submit the first report to kick this off.
just wait +- 4 more weeks to find out what this setup yields and check the Vertical CFL grow in micro section for more info.

Im using a vertical CFL setup

Light used is a single 125 watt 2700K CFL 5u bulb wich probably puts out about 6000 lumen...Advanced Eco star.
width 10 cm, length 40 cm

Ventilation by a fan, a large pc fan 23cm max. 178 m3/h with speed controler but it probably loses capacity to about
60m3/h because of the homemade carbon filter and air ducts.
Still plenty of air refreshment for a 0.1 m3 space...Also i use small extra CO2 addition via yeast brewing in a bottle
I have a double blade fan for air movement in cabinet.
cabinet is an 80L barrel, 80 cm high, 40cm diameter.
i have a 0.5m2 grow surface with every side of the barrel max 15cm distance from bulb. Perfect light penetration all around.

pi x r2 = 3.14 x 0.2x0.2 = 0.125 m2 floorspace
pi x d = 3.14 x 0.40 diameter = 1.25 m length side of barrel

1.25m x 0.40 bulb length= 0.5 m2 lighted surface
40 cm diameter barrel - 10cm bulb = 30/2= 15cm space between barrel and buld

temperature is around 24-26 , RH 45 day
temperature is around 16-18 , RH 60 night

Genetics, Paradise seeds
auto white berry and opium photo freebee
The white berry gets major LST alongside the bulb and the goal is to fill a SCROG.

Soil..coco potting soil from garden supply
tree saver microbial/ myco life root stimulator
Hydro clay pellet subtrate in bottom,
Pot 25 cm diameter, 7,5 liter

Nutes...bonemeal added to soil 1/2 cup/ 5 liter
during veg 7.3.6 npk liquid plant fertilzer
I use potash and molasses in flower after last veg nutes in week 5.

Heres a view inside the barrel...week 6
