I grow in my basement and filter air from the 2nd floor in which usually ends up around 63 F . I have been having to run 23 hrs on 1 hrs off because I dont want it to cool down from 80 F to 63F because it will effect growth. I believe 18-6 would be ideal for the plants and my pocket . I'm wondering if I can get away with that much of a change in temp. Or if I'm better off just doing what I'm doing now.
Thanks for any responses ..

Temp is only part of the issue, you need to deal with humidity too. VPD charts are your friend.

in any case, a few hours at lower temps may not hurt as long as RH does not get too high. OTOH, growth will be slower at lower temps.

I stayed at 24-0 in my grow due to the temp/RH issue. Now that RH is down due to colder weather, I am 20-4 to get some color from lower temps. :goodluck:

the change of temp isnt an issue, its the temp range.dont know what 63f is :shrug:but plants tend to slow down growing at 17c or less.
in a tent in in the open ? insulation,of any kind be in cardboard boxes,bubblewrap,50mm kingspan.get the tent off the floor.
good lck n keep er lit
:pighug:

I have a sheet of 1/2" insulation under the tent w no extra clearance to get it off the ground any more than that .
Ty guys for the replies...cheers

A brief overnight cold won't be a problem. In the winter my tent runs at 86f with a heater and drops to 68f with lights off. Cold nights minimize stretching, while the metabolism is slowed at colder temperatures it doesn't harm plants in nature and cannabis has a fast metabolism.

How is your humidity? You don't want large fluctuations in environment or it can breed problems. I tend to stay at 40% rh in my veg tent but my temperature is 84f/66f.

Thanks Damien50,
My rh is usually in the 30's. I think I may try to do 20 on/4 off. I believe it will help the plants with a descent rest period to make their buds larger.
