Cartmans Pre-Flower Pollinating...

First off, I do not consider myself a breeder but a pollen chucker who does it for fun and so I don't have to purchase seeds repeatedly.. I prefer Indica dom strains as Sativa's cause me high anxiety usually. I don't smoke much, most of this is grown for my wife who has no insurance or pain meds after a failed back surgery & losing her USPS job of 7yrs..

I first got into breeding Auto's by just wanting to save the first genetics I was given and after some research on them I really knew I had to keep this Sour60 around.. so I did so and got lucky with a phenol out of 2 females that leaned heavily towards the Bubblegum side/Sour60 of the strain.. woohoooo..

I find breeding with AF genetics super fun and real easy with my method.. by the time the plant is pollinated it has 6-7wks to finish time, and since seeds need 6wks to develop properly this works out awesome.. plus by doing pre-flower pollinating I control how much bud production I may lose to seeds.. usually not much.

One of the other methods I'm experimenting with is crossing strains that share genetics, like same father and compare this to crossing 2 strains of totally opposite genetics to compare.. taking good notes is a must. So far I'm having fun and limiting who gets the seeds so I'm not flinging crap out n about.. some I"ve already worked to F2 and cannot wait to grow them out as F2 shows the widest variation making the game even more fun..

So far I've made F1 seeds crossing a strain to itself to keep seeds around.. and then I had some fun.
I did a few crosses & named them..
Sniper = BubbleguN, AK47 x Sour60, grew it to F2 and then hit it with an Assassin F2 male.. I've now grown it out twice selecting males and females I like and am now at Sniper f2

DV8R = (Deimos x Maxine/Superfreak) Female x (Gorilla Grape #5 x Max/Superfreak) male.. and have now taken it also to F2..

I have a few good friends test growing these and so far things are looking up.. onward and upward

Thats awesome bud. I've made a few batches of my own seeds too. One is a photo x auto project I'm working on. Trying to mix some genetics, and stabilize it back to an auto format. I kinda think the males are just as fun to watch grow to be honest. Out of curiosity, do you take a smoke test of your male flowers? My favorite auto male I have had actually got me pretty stoned (short lived, but great buzz), and tasted/smelled great. I'd love to see some pics of you crosses bud.

I wish I could keep a male around long enough to do that smoke test, I just don't have the room right now in this small closet setup since giving the wife her walk in closet back.. lol. Mostly why I chose to go Auto too.. Only been into it for a year now and love it. Starting a new grow at the moment, don't ya just love babies..

Thats awesome bud. There some tasty looking buds there. Lol I feel you about the walk in closet, I've been bargaining with my wife for ours for about a year now. I have yet to harvest 1 of my own plants, but do have my 1st 4 growing now. These are the auto x photos I'm working on now. They are a cross of Crazy Ape auto (psychofruit x guerrilla ryder) and an Amnesia photo (background unknown, simply labeled "amnesia gift") They where both freebies, but amazing plants in my opinion. So far the name I keep going back to is Psychonesia, and Amy's Ape is a close second (Amy is a bit of an inside joke with another member).

They are being grown in a micro cab with 143²" under 39w of diy led, on 24/0. So far I have 3 phenos, and 1 I suspect (and pray for) to be a amnesia leaning auto male. This project is more for learning to work with the auto trait, than it is for the finest auto. Today is day 20 so hopefully I'll see some nuts on that amnesia leaning pheno soon.

Well I look forward to watching the new babies, maybe I can learn a thing or 2. Thanks for the pics too bud, bud porn goes a long way here, lol. Till later, take care.:smoking:

They look happy and healthy bro.. converting a photo period to auto flowering can take a few grows to slowly rid the non autos out, but, does sound like a cool project..
Probably take ya to about F4 or F5 to achieve this and then start the backcrossing huh? sounds challenging and fun, plus quite the learning curve.. think I might go off and start my first grow thread .... cheers man and best of luck..

Yeah it's going to take me a while, especially at only 4 plant at a time. These where the first seeds I made, and figured if I wanted to learn it was time to jump in head first. I just hope to keep my head above water, lol. Out of this batch, I plan on flowering at least 1 non auto just to try the bud, and compare it to any autos I get. If I am able to do that, it should fit right in to my photos flowering period.:smoking:

I just did a full on Non auto grow and put a few autos off to the side because I wanted to see how they did growing under 12/12 the last 7wks.. not to bad, I was actually surprised at how well the did.. so don't worry if you only have one flowering room if you have to run the auto's under 12/12 ok... Here is one I did that to.. my Sniper F2
in a 2gal pot, I usually use a 3gal so all kinds of testing going on here for sure.. hehe

Hey Fugzy, how you liking them felt grow bags.. I picked up a few 3gal to try them and thinking now I should of just
went ahead and got the other 4 and a bunch of 1gal. Seems they save a big mess from happening and won't allow some
crawly critters from entering so easily.. so let me know how they work out, more air to roots to I'd imagine..
