What´s up, guys?! :)

I have two Easy Ryders thats almost 2 weeks old. Tomorrow acually. They are sitting in kind of a small pot, under 390w CFL, and in 2-3 weeks they move to under a 250w HPS. I don´t know the US mechurments on the pots, but it maybe a fourth or fifth of a gallon. These seeds are germinated in the pots.

Here they are beside a few weeks older Lowryder.

I don´t think the roots have reached the bottom of the pot yet, so i was thinking of transplanting as soon as possible. I was thinking of using a pot just like the bigger one in the picture, or maybe even bigger. Maybe pots that is 2 ½ gallons can be used right? The bigger the better i´ve heard.
I have only grown Lowryders so these E-R´s are new to me But they have AK-47 genetics so i think that they will grow big. If you compare to Lowryders anyway.
I made the mistake with my recent first indoor grow, to use small pots. But now i know better, and i am planning on using much large pots.

My plan was to cut off the bottom, and put the pot in the bigger pot, maybe 3-5 inches deep into the soil. Like FD wrote in his "how to grow hefty autos..." grow guide. I´m sure someone is familiar to that method.

Does anybody have any feedback? Is it too soon maybe? Should i wait?

Any help is helpful. I´m going to do this anyways, but i just wanted a second opinion first so i don´t go and do something really stupid.

Have a good day. /H.

Are they regular or fem seeds? If regulars, I like to wait till they sex so I'm not committing a full pot to a male. 2.5 gallon pots should be fine.

Thai Budda Man: The roots haven´t hit the bottom yet, but i think that they will in a couple of days, a week tops. So i thought that the time was right to transplant. I read what FD wrote about the Tier transplant, and i thought it could be interesting to try.

Muddy: They are feminized seeds. They haven´t sexed yet, but it´s in time. :)

How deep should i transplant you guys think? I think the pot is 6-7 inches maybe. I was thinking of maybe transplanting 4 inches deep so just over half of the pot is above the soil.

I drilled some holes in the bottom of two buckets just now. I think i have done enough holes so the exess water can run off, and so the roots get enough air.
Here are the buckets. Please tell me as fast as you can if you think that i should make some more holes.

First one.

Another picture of the underside of the first bucket.

Second one.

Another pic of the second one. This are what i thought could use as some kind of ventilation for the roots. I have three holes instead of two now, and the edge there have been carved down.

I will start now mixing the soilmix, and i wait with the transplant for 2 hours. So please post if you want to give me a heads up.

/H.

I transplanted and it wasn´t easy. :) And the roots had begun to reach so i accidentially killed some roots then i cut off the bottom of the container. But i think she will recover. I hope at least she don´t become a hermaphrodite becouse of that.

/h.

Next time lift your ladies out while the soil is pretty dry and trim the bottoms of the pots. If the root mass is big it won't crumble apart. That's how I used to do tier methods.

I will try that the next time i transplant. I was thinking that i should lift them out of their pots when i was cutting. But you got to make mistakes to learn sometimes.

I am thinking of maybe tier transplant the ones i have in 2 ½ gallon containers into 3 ½-4 gallon containers. I grow original Lowryder in 2 ½ gallon containers, and they are getting kind of big. But i want them to be the most they can be. Maybe it´s not necessary to go bigger?
