Due to some serious height restrictions i need the 250w CFL reflector higher. can I simply drill holes in the top then screw it to the ceiling? the ceiling is chipboard so could heat be a big problem? I was thinking of putting a thick layer of silicone in between the two.

sorry if this in the wrong section i'm not sure where to post this.

on another note i'm planning to use a scrog screen and keep tucking the plants under as I have only 1 and half feet of soil to bulb space. so basically growing it horizontal, is this ok? and possible problems?

NGK :peace:

I'd be concerned with excess heat and possibly a fire. Especially if the ballast is attached to the CFL bulb. Proceed with caution.

I''d invest in some kind of steel or aluminum heat dissipation plate to go between the reflector and chipboard... those 250 cfl's can get quite warm.... not to mention if one does burn out there could be a few sparks or something... air on the side of safety always! :smokeit: happy growing!

Good idea, I'll do some tests with different heat buffers and report back with the best solution. Any thoughts on growing horizontally with a scrog screen? the ladies are starting to get a little big so I'll be needing to do this in the next few days, I did a search online but couldn't find anything very helpfull. My main concern is the stem snapping as it will be a 90 degree angle.

Will get a little journal going soonish mainly because I forgot to label what seeds was what and now I have no idea what plant is what! :o So yeah I'll be needing a hand with that!
