Problem: Brown/Orange spots showing up on leaves, leaves curling and getting crispy/dying.

Medium/grow method:
Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil w/ 20% perlite

Feed: and supplements used: FF Tiger Bloom

water source: RO water with 3ml Cal/Mag per gallon, 6.5 PH

Strain/age: Tangerine Dream Auto from Growers Choice Seeds 10 1/2 weeks old

light used: 130w LED and 138w of CFL supplemental

Climate: 73 ~ 78F 40% Humidity

Additional info: At 9 weeks into grow I just started my nutrients (at 1/4 strength). PPM on runoff had been high throughout grow (around 1300 PPM) it was now down to about 500 PPM, plant seemed ready so I gave it that first dose. I watered it 2 days later with it's normal watering of 3ml Cal/Mag to gallon of RO water. After this I noticed brown spots on the plant and it quickly has spread and leaves have began curling. I initially thought it was nute burn, so I flushed it and gave it 1/4 nutes. A week and a half after the problem has still gotten worse. I flushed again this time measuring runoff PH which was 5.5 and after doing research thought maybe this is a lockout, so I added some Dolomite lime. Now its the next day but thing still seem bad. Have been clipping or cutting leaves when they get crispy or dead. Bottom leaves don't seem affected.

Hi @Erebos It looks like a potassium deficiency to me. What about Big Bloom and Grow big If you are only using Tiger Bloom you are missing 2/3 of the nutrients you need. These three are the minimum system in Fox Farms.

Thanks so much for the reply! I do have those nutes I'll add them in...for some reason I thought this late in flower that Tiger Bloom would be all I needed and that it would have enough potassium. Up until now they seemed really healthy and it didn't seem like they needed any of the Grow Big or any nutes at all really. Does a Calcium issue because of low soil PH, lockout and LED lights not seem plausible either?

Hey guys, I added Dolomite lime to soil and fed it with a good dose of Cal Mag and Tiger Bloom. My ph runoff is 6.5 coming out now but still leaves are continuing to curl up and die. Am I doing something wrong?

:toke:-- Pardon MoG, but I think this is P defc., not K defc.; no burning/necrosis at the margin teeth which is the most common symptom,... that said, given the lack of nutes, the flushing, it could be some of both, but the necrosis pattern is more P defc. related,.... Tiger Bloom is a "complete" base bloom nute,... Big Bloom is so weak, it's more of a supplement than a bloom nute,... good stuff though!
Erebos, OF soil is fairly rich, but not a complete in nutrition, plus their quality is very suspect; pH issues are common with their soil as well,... the flushing stripped out a lot of what's avaiable in there as well, and clearly the pH has been iffy.... dolomite was top dressed I gather? that won't work well at all, it's too localized on the surface like that, not spread around so it can react all over, and it's also the slowest acting form of lime due to slight chemistry differences from regular limes, oyster shell, etc.,...
P demand is high, and she's eating the leaves to get it; keep feeding, some of this is normal fro this stage as well, so don't look for big corrections, more of a slowing to the fan tapping,... good news is the buds do look fine, solid fattening,... What dosage and frequency are you feeding now?

Thanks so much for the help @Waira ! Yes the Dolomite was top dressed. Just watered this morning and I gave her 1/2 strength Tiger Bloom (1 tsp per gallon) and some CalMag ( total of 450 PPM and 6.5 PH water). Now my runoff PH rose to about 7.3 which I wonder if it's because of the lime, although I know runoff PH is not an accurate way to gauge the soil.

She's in the 11th week so I'm hoping there's only about 2 weeks left and I can ride this out, she was doing so good!

Huh, was it really fine powder dolomite, or a blend product? How much did you use? dolomite will force pH up, but only up to about 7.0 in general, one of the good things about it,...it's not an aggressive adjuster overshooting pH raising, but it is stubborn to get back down in kind,... Well this close to the end, don't sweat it much, keep your inputs at low pH, about 6.0

It was powder dolomite and I used about 3-4 tbs top dressed and watered in. It's still looking pretty bad, the smaller bud leaves up top are getting pretty beat up and dying off/curling in. I attached a couple pics. I'm thinking about trying to get it to hold out for another week and then cutting her down, I hope I'm close enough. She's at 13 weeks from seed now and trichromes are looking mostly cloudy. I feel so bummed, I was doing so good for my first grow and then things went south SO fast

Liming takes awhile to be affective at bringing the buffer up. I did some research before I ran the fox farm and I prebuffered the soil with more oyster shells, pure calcium carbonate. Dolmite lime has more magnesium than you will need. Maybe calcitic lime or oyster shell maybe be a better option because they have a higher concentration of calcium which is your actual buffer. Around week 5 I have been hearing the horror stories about ffof and wasn't taking any risks so maybe next grow if you keep with the ffof I have heard recommendations to feed at least once a month with a 2 tbsp per gallon feed of oyster shells or some lime material and give it like a week or two to really set in because they are not an instant fix. Just my two cents and maybe it can help you out

Edit oyster shells are the original buffer that is in ffof, and I did 1 tbsp/ gallon of soil when potting and I plan on feeding 2tbsp per month mixed with nutes around the 3 week, 7 weeks, etc

Plus she looks like she is about ready to go soon? You might be able to pull a good harvest yet
