Breeding Etiquette

Hi Folks,

I have an interest in reworking a high cbd autoflowering strain by using a scaled back version of mephisto's breeding and selection process setout in their logs.

currently this strain is my number 1 go to med when I can get it.
my problem is the current version of seeds available on the market of this wonderful autoflower constantly sprouts nothing but small yielding plants i like to compare to the original lowryder.

Im hoping to achieve my own version of my preferred high cbd auto that I know is guaranteed to produce a favorable medicinal cannabinoid profile to deal with my ongoing ailments

Now to the question.
May I ask what the general consensus is regarding breeding etiquette?

After taking considerable time and effort to breed until I have achieved a stable high yielding phenotype would I be rude to consider this my own strain and not feel a need to seek approval or the nod so to speak to use this as a base for my own future breeding plans be it commercial or otherwise as my interest extends to doing further crosses down the track to rich cbd photo period plants to make some different medicinal cannabinoid blends in autoflower format and the idea of offering small limited runs to the public is appealing.

As I learn I like to ask the questions in advance so when the time comes I do the right thing in keeping with how we like our community to co exist.

Once you buy a seed it is yours to do with as you please. You do not need permission. I always ask for permission simply out of repect. If you put in the work to creat/improve a strain then it technically becomes your strain.. As long as your not outright ripping off another breeders work and you give credit where credit is due you will be fine.
The only acception to the rule is if you recieved unreleased tester seeds for free. That would not be cool to use them for any breeding projects that are not strictly for personal smoke.

If you go comercial with it I imagine folks woukd want to know the lineage, well some would I think. Gluck man! Cant wait till I start playin around with breeding next year! Im still trying to grasp the terminology and math lol.

One thing though, since Mephisto is on this site, it would be a good idea to ask permission, so's not to cause any conflict.

Also, you might get advice with cooperation.

I don't know if he's using Mephi's genes or just the same technique of growing out a bunch, selecting the best, breeding them, then reversing for fem. I may be misinterpreting though.

Mephisto logs are like a mentor that I am following to learn good practice. I have no interest recreational strains only those with guaranteed High CBD.
