I tried. I really did. I had every intention of waiting until July 1 when it becomes legal to grow (up to four plants, anyway), but I just couldn't stand it. I have two competing theories for this. 1) I've smoked marijuana before, so I'm an incorrigible criminal, and this is obviously just the first step before I shoot my neighbors wife, rape his dog, and dismember his children and serve them up to my cats, or 2) Even in my mid-fifties, I'm still an overgrown kid who never could stand waiting for Christmas to play with his new toys. Your choice.

I went with Mephisto Genetics Sour Crack as my first grow, mainly (of course) because of the promised speed; you know how it is-first grow and I want some weed now! I decided to go with just one variety just to keep things as simple as possible for the first attempt.

Now, if this grow falls apart, I don't want any fellow noobs blaming Mephisto, Hydroponics Hut, or anyone else represented in the equipment here! I really should wait until the summer heat is over, but I'd rather go ahead and jump in and fail than wait any longer. If all I get is an education, it'll be worth it!

Previous grow experience:

First plant: spring 1978. My uncle found it.

Second plant: late spring 1978: My uncle found it.

Third plant: summer 1978: My...well, you get the idea; stealth was never my talent.

Fourth plant: 1986: My big success story. Grew under a 250w MH lamp with an ebb-and-flow system. Harvested about a eighth of an ounce of shitty tasting puff balls that, if you timed it right, you could smoke, get high, and not get a headache. Though the headache was tough to avoid. (Flushing? Isn't that a city in New York?)

Fifth plant: 1993: After about six weeks of vegging, I put it into flower and was rewarded with a male plant.

Equipment/nutes/etc.

75cm X 60cm X 105cm tall (2' X 2.5' X 7') Gorilla Grow Tent

PG260 LED panel from Hydroponics Hut

4” inline fan and carbon scrubber with a variac to control speed; passive intake

Three 3 gallon equivalent Air Pots

Clip on fan for circulation

Two parts Happy Frog Potting Soil to one part perlite

Fox Farms “Dirty Dozen” Starter Kit

Botanicare Cal/Mag Plus

General Hydroponics Armor Si

Hanna Instruments HI 9813-6 pH/TDS/EC meter

Igloo cooler dispenser w/pump and air stone for water (yeah, this was a bit silly, but what the heck)

Pro CO2 bucket (This is a desperation idea to help during the inevitable heatwaves this summer rather than any attempt at pumping up yield.)

I dropped the seeds in a shot glass of warm water on Sunday, June 14th, planted the germinated seeds into their soil homes on last night and now I'm waiting for my babies to arrive! (and hopefully by then I can figure out this photo thing...)

Hell yeah, taking the plunge! :d5:
Mind if I sit in? :pop:
I dig the igloo idea, BR. I use 7 gallon camp water jugs with a spigot, no reason a cooler wouldn't work (and maybe better).
:karmacloud: for your new gals, I can't wait to see them pop up!

Well, I've learned one thing already. When I bought my tent, I thought the idea of windows on a tent was just plain silly. The darn plants aren't even up yet, but I get it. The zipper would wear out in a week...

:smoking: BR' -- Welcome to AFN, mate! ...looks like you're very well equipped, and set with a fine strain to run! This is huge, man, to have what you'll need, when you need it,... plus, you have us! As you sift through the various forums here, you'll find gems of info all over the place,.. look for "sticky" threads in particular, found at the top of each forum section... key places like New Growers, General AF discussion, Indoor Growing, Tips, Tricks etc., Infirmary, and so on,... the Live Help Thread is great for "emergency" trouble shooting (staff only replies there!), or technical issues,...
...I saw you're using Happy Frog soil, which is generally good, but fox Farms has had issues with low pH in their soils these days,... do yourself a favor, and run a soil pH test to make sure,... one item I highly recommend is an Accurate 8 soil pH probe, which will measure the soil directly, vs the alternative run-off method, which I dislike because of it's inherent sources of measurement error,... but a decent job can be done following this guideline... find a spare pot, 1 gal at least, and fill with your soil, then follow the directions and calculations: https://www.autoflower.org/index.php?threads/astronomys-small-piece-of-the-universe.11557/page-101
...we want you to get off to a solid start! FF soils have been problematic for some, not all,... but enough that confirmation and caution is warranted! Sorry if I alarmed you bro', but better safe than sorry,... let us know what your testing shows; if it needs fixing, we can help, okay? :goodluck:

Okay, success! I figured out a work-around. Shown is the future home of my babies and my "command center" so to speak. I can't figure out if all those bottles look impressive or silly! But at least I'll be able to show my plants when they arrive.

Sounds like a good idea. I absolutely love the meter I have for testing water/nutes, but it certainly isn't for testing soil. I'll add the Accurate 8 to my stable of equipment!
